Although Blackfoot's 1980 release, TOMCATTIN', was another solid, hard-rocking release, it failed to connect with record buyers in the same way as the band's surprise hit from a year before, STRIKES. Undeterred, the band issued its fifth release, MARAUDER, in '81. For those waiting for Blackfoot to sell out and sweeten its tough Southern rock sound, the band's second '80s release proved there was absolutely no chance.
Leader Rickey Medlocke and company stick to their guns on MARAUDER, cranking out another hard rocker custom made to be turned up to 11. You can't go wrong with such highlights as "Good Morning," "Dry Country," "Diary of a Working Man," "Rattlesnake Rock N' Roller," and "Searchin'."

Good Morning!!! I would gladly pay the $8.95 again just for the opening song "Good Morning"! This album is great southern rock with tons of attitude. Rick Medlocke is a very dynamic singer as "Diary Of A Workingman" shows, and the band just tears it up throughout. Submitted by Jason (Chico, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo

Blackfoot - Still Going Strong Great album! Great when I was in college and still makes you stomp your feet today. They didn't last as long as most of us would have liked, but this album defines what great rock music should be, whether they're from the south or anywhere else for that matter. BLACKFOOT - THE ALBUM! Marauder is quite simply the best hard rock album of all time. It is full of powerful riffs, goodtime southern boogie, soaring, heart-rending vocals and some of the best songs ever written. if you are a true fan of hard rock music you MUST own a copy of Marauder. Blackfoot were one of the most under-rated, under exposed rock bands ever too come out of the states. They were the best live band i've ever seen- they blew me away in 1980 supporting the Scorpions in Liverpool on their first tour of the UK. Jakson Spires RIP Submitted by WAL (Wirral, England) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
ahead of time These guys were ahead of time, no doubt. Not like later rock posers or today´s empty shouters and noise makers ! They should listen to Blackfoot to learn what rock really was about. Payin´ for it is one of the best songs ever. Marauder and Strikes are one(s) of the best rock albums ever ! I hear they make some new material these days with the new singer! I hope it will be from the southern rock period, and not heavy metal period, when they actualy softened ! And for the end - rest in peace, Jackson - you were the man !
