DIFFERENT STAGES contains two discs of live tracks recorded in 1994 & 1997 and a third disc of live tracks recorded in 1978.
Disc one of DIFFERENT STAGES is an Enhanced CD containing a full audio program as well as multimedia computer files.
One may wonder--do we really need a fourth live album from Rush? After one listen to this set, the answer is an emphatic YES! Modern production techniques make the band's classics sound clearer and more vibrant than ever. In addition, new musical twists and turns make the songs sound refreshingly new; an extra drum fill here, an extended bass hook there. The band seems to improve with age; 20-year-old tunes sound tighter than ever, with the live versions exceeding the studio ones.
The package consists of three CD's: the first two were recorded in 1994 and 1997. The third is from 1978. After some '90s material is covered, the group launches into "2112," played in its entirety and impeccably done. "Analog Kid" and "Natural Science" are 2 other rarely performed songs that came off incredibly well. "The Rhythm Method" is a Neal Peart drum solo that takes arena rock skill and showmanship to the highest degree. DIFFERENT STAGES is a fantastic set by the Canadian powerhouse trio.
Includes liner notes by Geddy Lee.
Rush: Geddy Lee (vocals, keyboards, bass pedals, bass); Alex Lifeson (guitar, bass pedals, background vocals); Neal Peart (drums, acoustic & electronic percussion).
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Rush Different Stages Songs Different Stages Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews THERE BEST LIVE RELEASE YET I would have never thought Rush could out do All The Worlds A Stage, but they have here. What I like about the release is you get a little bit of everything here. Released in 1998, you get alot of songs from the 97 tour. Also included is songs from the 94 tour & a extra cd of live recordings from 1978. The 97 material to me is the best. They have never sounded better. This is a highly recommended live recording from from one of the great live bands out there still today. Submitted by a reviewer (Muncie, IN. USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
awesome Rush- Different Stages :Live is the greatest album set. I absolutely love it. I listen to it all the time and can't stop. I am starting to become a HUGE fan. I definitely think everyone should get this, and all the other, Rush CDs! Submitted by ShannonDHull (Farmville, Virginia, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
By far their best live album The compilation of songs blew me away. Rush do not get any air time out here, so a live album with some of their greatest work, it doesn't get any better. I've been a huge fan since I found Power Windows in 1985 and I hope they keep on coming. Submitted by a reviewer (Perth, Western Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
The BEST Live album EVER!!!!!! Different Stages is perhaps the best live album ever...it also tops several studio albums!! I have been a rush fan for a while now and I would say this is both the best value and, once again, the greatest live album ever. At a price like $25 for 3 CDs, you would think it would have to be a pretty bad album for a value. This is where you are VERY wrong! You will not regret buying this album. If you think Neil Peart is the best drummer ever then you will love The Rhythm Method. The entire song is an 8 minute drum solo by the best drummer in the world! My favorite track is 2112. In most albums they would only put parts of the song in it, but they put all 7 parts in this one! You will not regret buying this album! Rush - 'Different Stages' (Atlantic) 3-CD Rush's fourth live release straight off their 'Test For Echo' tour.Has the same raw and rocking 'feel' that their first live record 'All The World's A Stage' did.Disc three of this title is what drew me to 'Different Stages'.It's an unreleased archive live 1978 concert from London,UK.It's just so good to be able to experience a live CD from their 'Farewell To Kings' tour, with outstanding cuts like "Xanadu",the title cut "Farewill...","Cygnus X-1" as well as the others.A must-have for all true Rush fans.
