(4 Customer Reviews)
From 1981-1993, Stevie Nicks successfully juggled a solo career and membership in Fleetwood Mac. But in 1993, she left Mac for good and became strictly a solo artist. Quite similar to Bella Donna and The Wild Heart but not as strong, Street Angel found Nicks taking a fairly rootsy approach and avoiding the type of high-tech production gloss one hears on Rock a Little and The Other Side of the Mirror. The CD (Nicks' first since departing Mac) contains a few gems, including the single "Blue Denim," the free-spirited "Love Is Like a River" and the earthy "Listen to the Rain." But most of the songs, although generally decent, fall short of the excellence Nicks so often achieved in the '80s. Nicks' hardcore devotees will want Angel, but it's far from essential. ~ Alex Henderson

| Street Angel Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Love it Stevie!! I love this album!! It takes me back to when my son was little. I listened to this album all the time. Stevie can do no wrong. If you grew up listening to Stevie you'll like this album!! Submitted by chris (washington state) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Weak effort by the QUeen of Rock Stevie Nicks has been my fave artist for almost 3 decades. I am been to 32 Nicks/Mac show, and I feel she is the Queen of Rock and Roll.
But on this release, the Queen fell from her throne, temporarily thank the heavens.
But just because Stevie is my fave artist, this doesn't mean I cannot admit it when she releases a bad album. This is the only solo effort from Nicks' solo career I never listen to anymore, and I was very dissapointed with it back n 1994, when it was released. I tried to like it. But I drifted away from it and don' re-visit the distorted Klonopin peaked period known as Street Angel.
Even Stevie doesn't ike this cd, but her vision was clouded, and the horrific production of Thom Panunzio was alful. Nothing could save it. Except those fellow die hards that, unlike me, won't admit this album was a disasterous album, especially compared against all her other steller releases.
I give it two stars, however, for the beautiful, "Destiny," the rockin', "Blue Denim," and the awesome, "Rose Garden."
And will scream running from the terrible, "Docklands," which, thankfully, she didn't write.
Sinse this album, Nicks rebounded with a Fleetwood Mac Renion, then a CD box set, and capped off her comeback with the amazing top 5 charting solo masterpiece, "Trouble in Shangri la."
Of coarse, there willbe those who will disagree with my review. They'll insist that this criticlly panned, low charting(It took 3 and a half years for this to reach Gold status..2002's "Shangri la" went gold in 4 weeks and then platinum 3 months later, has sold 2 million to date)
a good album because they can't admit Stevie could make a bad album. Even Nicks herself can admit it. Anyhow, this is the only Stevie Nicks solo album that I don't like.

A fantastic CD!!!! I completly agree with the fist review, i dont know why this CD did badly, it has really great songs. Blue denim, Gretta, Docklands, kick it, Street angel (just to name a few) are fantastic. Stevie Nicks should be very proud of this CD, her voice sounds great and the songs are unbelieveable. I would recommed this CD to everyone. Submitted by houseromanov (aurora, ill) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
don't be so self critical, ms. nicks if you know anything about stevie nicks, you would know that she is very critical of this album, calling it her worst work ever, and never performs any of these songs live, as if they should have never been sang. many other critics tend to agree. i however, do not. there really is not a bad song on this album. it is not my favorite of hers. yet, many of these songs are very catchy, as far as music, lyrics, and of course, the voice. stand-outs include blue denim, greta(a very poetic piece of work), rose garden, maybe love will change your mind (a semi-successful single), great cover of bob dylan's just like a woman, kick it, and one of my personal favorites of all time, unconditional love. this is a song with no real purpose at all, but considering how beautifully it is sang and the highly contagious rhythm, to call it a keeper would be an understatement. this album would not be a reflection of ms. nicks' best work, but it is a great display of traditional pop music at it's best. even those who may criticize this album can not honestly say that there is not a song on here that they cannot resist singing along to. Street Angel album
$9.55 Voted one of the best 2004 albums you didn't hear from both Spin and Rolling Stone, the third release from this Chapel Hill, NC, combo revels in its gloomy indie pop roots. Fuzzed-out guitars mesh with soaring, edgy melodies on a song cycle exploring the collapsed relationship between Comas auteur Andy Herod and TV star Michelle Williams. But you'd probably only know that from reading the press kit, since Herod's lyrics are typically obtuse. Still, there is no mistaking the self-pity wallowing in songs like "Hologram," with lyrics such as "Every time I think of a zero it's me with my eyes X-ed out with a sharpie and frown." The disc kicks off with plenty of sludgy pop hooks roughed up by unfussy production, but gradually morphs into a more internally wracked affair. The sum of these songs equals more than their melancholy parts, and the album works on its own logic. That includes the bizarre three-and-half-minute single organ note that opens "Falling," the closing song. Bits of The Man Who Sold the World-era David Bowie float through this world, but Herod isn't mimicking anything as much as crafting his own style. The singer/songwriter's careening voice conveys the sadness, anger, and angst associated with any romantic breakup, as it shifts from a detached whisper in the pensive beginning of "Oh God" to a frustrated Alex ...
