Led Zeppelin's seventh album, PRESENCE, is a straight-ahead rocker, that has much more of a "live" feel than some of their previous recordings. Gone are most of the big production flourishes, and in their place the big power trio + vocals sound that made Led Zeppelin such a popular concert band.
The opening "Achilles Last Stand" is a driving, up-tempo rocker, while the closing "Tea For One" is a slow, Chicago-style blues, featuring Plant's moaning vocals and Page's alternatingly sweet, and frenetic solos. Elsewhere, "Royal Orleans" mixes delta blues with Indian music, "Hots On For Nowhere" is a stop-time boogie, and "Candy Store Rock" is heavy metal rockabilly.

Led Zeppelin Presence Songs Presence Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews ZEP'S UNDERRATED ALBUM IT SEEMS MOST ZEP FANS EITHER LOVE OF HATE PRESENCE. IN MY OPINION, ITS NOT THEIR GREATEST EFFORT, BUT THIS ALBUM STANDS ON ITS OWN. IT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE ANY OTHER ALBUMS. IN FACT, ITS THE MOST UNIQUE FROM THE OTHERS. THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM AND THE REMASTER IS DEFINITELY WORTH PURCHASING THE ALBUM AGAIN (WHAT'S WITH THOSE MID 80'S ISSUES OF CD'S? WHY DO REMASTERS SOUND SO MUCH BETTER?) In The Presence Of The Obelisk "Presence" is a brutal electric album..no acoustic pieces or keyboard...and is perhaps the last truly classic Zep album. "Achilles Last Stand" launches the proceedings on a formidable note, featuring incendiary guitar and drum; a notable anthem following on the heels of "Stairway To Heaven" and "Kashmir". Other potent tracks include "Nobody's Fault But Mine", Zep's "Hellhound On My Trail" , containing a frenzied blues-rock beat as well as a mercurial blasty harmomnica break and "Tea For One', a slow lengthy blues about the dark side of fame and success. An underrated album, "Presence" is a definite must-have, and be careful not to rouse that sleeping Albion. Submitted by Will-T (Lawrenceburg IN) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
better than 5 stars Achilles last stand-this one song has the musical equivalent of a hard rock beethoven or mozart! There will never be another combination so musically perfect.I saw some yotube video of their dec 2007 reunion gig,and they still sound great thirty years later Submitted by crcr82 (gainesvilleflorida) Was This Review Helpful? Brilliance By 1976 the best years of Rock were coming to an end (67-77). The truth is that this album may have been made to quickly. Tea for One reflects that and is in many respects a weaker version of Since I've Been Loving You. But, Achilles still stands as probably Zep's greatest triumph. This is far and away Page's best guitar solo, and as he did consistently throught the 70's he dwarfs any and all guitarists that came before or after him. Clapton, Beck and even Hendrix himself cannot touch the man. Songs like Royal Orleans, Candy Store Rock, and Hots on for Nowhere are sensational. This is probably the last true great album of the 70's. It is especially true with the farce that punk would pull on London around this time that really did not change rock at all, but over time did change people's perceptions of what really did happen. Truth is that real zeppelin fans understand the levels that the band was ascending to (again)! The rest of you probably will not get it. Quickly made or no, it does not matter. Another master stroke by the most prodigious music makers ever. Submitted by Michael (Des, Moines, IA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
THE OBJECT. Why underrated?.This record is one of the most powerful, honest and well-recording in the history of Hard-Rock."Achilles Last Stand" is one of the most brilliant, creative and explosive songs ever, the guitar-drumm coordination is unique, the track is a "crescendo" with an epic lyrics.Masterpice."For Your Life",also,is a powerful track featuring superb drumming from Bonzo and great guitar from Jimmy, the rythm is sensual, erotic, unique."Tea for One" is a slow blues and the other tracks are wonderful. When "Presence" was recorded the band has a "dark period",however,The Group was excellent in this albumn. On other hand, for you,What represent THE OBJECT?,-Do you remember to Aleister Crowley and Astrum Argentum?-.I love it. Presence album
$11.65 Rising from the ashes of his old band the Yardbirds, session guitarist Jimmy Page formed Led Zeppelin, one of the most powerful, influential, and enduring British bands to emerge in the '60s. Despite the presence of such classic thrash-o-ramas as "Good Times Bad Times" and "Communication Breakdown," what set Led Zeppelin apart was the depth and range of their music. Their sound was bathed in the blues, from rootsy covers of Willie Dixon's "You Shook Me" and "I Can't Quit You Baby," to the crunching rhythm changes of "Dazed And Confused."
Few guitarists before or since possessed Page's sense of pacing ...
| | Led Zeppelin II CD (1969) Remastered
Presence CD music
$13.25 From the first grinding notes of the famous vamp that introduces "Whole Lotta Love," LED ZEPPELIN II announces for all to hear that they are the definitive hard rock band of their generation. But before the listener can even settle into the groove, things takes a hard left turn into a spacey new rhythm, exotically flavored by Page's droning feedback and innovative use of a violin bow. By tune's end, Zeppelin has repeatedly toyed with the listener's expectations.
This subversive quality distinguishes most of the arrangements on LED ZEPPELIN II, as in the soft/hard dynamic shifts of "What Is And What Should Never Be," the gospelish mood of "Thank You," the rocking vamps and funk rhythms of "Heartbreaker" and "Living Loving Maid," and the country music echoes of "Ramble ...
| | Led Zeppelin Houses Of The Holy CD (1973) Remastered
Presence music CDs
$11.65 By 1973, Led Zeppelin was getting used to being the biggest band on the planet (both financially and sonically). Letting their guard down and their spirits wander, they came up with the most widely varied album in their discography. Stylistically, HOUSES OF THE HOLY is all over the map, but it coheres in a grand manner befitting the '70s rock royalty Zeppelin had become. Stepping back a little from the epic scale of ZEPPELIN IV, the group slips into a funky James Brown homage ("The Crunge"), offers one of the first-ever attempts at reggae-rock ...
| | Led Zeppelin III CD (1970) Remastered
Presence songs
$12.79 LED ZEPPELIN III is the sound of rock's brash enfants terrible beginning to mature. While the take-no-prisoners blues-rock of the first two albums is still prominent in the band's tool box, other implements are beginning to appear. The delicate acoustic whispers that would run through much of ZEPPELIN IV have their folk/blues antecedents here (the lambent "That's the Way," the earthy "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp"), the results of the band's creative encampment in a woodland dwelling. At the same time, the heavier tracks are unprecedented in their ferocious swagger. Robert Plant's ...
| | Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti CDs (1975) Remastered
Presence album
$20.05 After a two-year recording gap (the longest in their recording career up to that point), Led Zeppelin followed the rampant eclecticism of HOUSES OF THE HOLY with the embarrassment of riches that is PHYSICAL GRAFFITI. One could be forgiven for thinking of this expansive double-length set as Zeppelin's WHITE ALBUM. It's a great schizophrenic beast, the first side containing the most concentrated dose of pure hard-rock energy the band had delivered since their first two albums, and the second showing off the more subtle nuances of their talent.
This is really Jimmy Page's album, from the masterfully moody Eastern setting of "Kashmir" to the poignant liquidity of "Down by the Seaside" ...
