The album continues its collage of styles, from the wistfulness of "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" to song fragments like "Til the Morning Comes" to the transformation of Don Gibson's "Oh Lonesome Me" from canter to ballad. But the crowning achievements are the album's magnificent title track, a vividly drawn portrait of post-'60s melancholy, and the gorgeous, aching "Birds," a swan song heralding emotional departure. Both songs are graced by Nils Lofgren's delicate piano, and stand as two of Young's finest compositions. In a catalogue filled with rock classics, AFTER THE GOLDRUSH still ranks among the best.
AFTER THE GOLDRUSH mixes up the hard rock of EVERYONE KNOWS THIS IS NOWHERE and the folk and country leanings Young pursued with Crosby, Stills And Nash in one of his most eclectic and satisfying releases. The acoustic picking on the opener, "Tell Me Why," frames Young's vulnerable warble beautifully, signaling the softer aspect of the album. But the electric crunch of "Southern Man," a raging tour de force protest song that captures the special chemistry between Young and backing group Crazy Horse, balances Young's sensitivity with aggression and amplification.

KELI RAVENWhen your family history is deeply rooted in the entertainment industry, it's no wonder you find yourself emerging early mornings from the studio after laying tracks for CD's by artists, Kiss, Tom Jones and Vinnie Vincent among others. For him, there's no escaping it. He is deep to the core, singing, playing guitar, bass, percussion and producing, with influences ranging from the Beatles, Rush and Todd Rundgren to Smashing Pumpkins and Earth Wind &Fire, across the spectrum to Outkast, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Marilyn Manson.Born in Manhattan, Keli first hit Los Angeles as a preteen. As he had done in NYC, he garnered auditions and roles in film, commercials and television shows."As a kid, I was unsure of what I wanted to do, act or play music. All I knew was that no matter what, it would involve performing on stage. When time allowed, I made it out to the night clubs and concert halls. The first band I saw was Kiss, then Motley Crue, I just flipped. I knew this was the career I wanted". At 18 he cut his teeth alongside such artists as Guns N Roses, Poison and L.A. Guns. Being a multiple instrumentalist didn't hurt either. Numerous city performances, featured guitarist with legendary country artist 'David Allen Coe' in Hawaii, sharing the stage with heavy metal icon 'Lemmy Kilmister' and 'Motorhead', touring some Asian countries, all have culminated to enable him in the development of a unique sound in his recordings and live performances.
