Alice Cooper: Alice Cooper (vocals); Michael Bruce (guitar, keyboards); Glen Buxton (guitar); Dennis Dunaway (bass instrument); Neal Smith (drums).
Alice Cooper wasted little time following up the breakthrough success of Love It to Death with another album released the same year, Killer. Again, producer Bob Ezrin was on board and helps the group solidify their heavy rock (yet wide-ranging) style even further. The band's stage show dealt with the macabre, and such disturbing tracks as "Dead Babies" and the title track fit in perfectly. Other songs were even more exceptional, such as the perennial barnstorming concert standard "Under My Wheels," the melodic yet gritty "Be My Lover," and the tribute to their fallen friend Jim Morrison, "Desperado." The long and winding "Halo of Flies" correctly hinted that the band would be tackling more complex song structures on future albums, while "You Drive Me Nervous" and "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" showed that Alice Cooper hadn't completely abandoned their early garage rock direction. With Killer, they became one of the world's top rock bands and concert attractions; it rewarded them as being among the most notorious and misunderstood entertainers, thoroughly despised by grownups. ~ Greg Prato
Alice Cooper's second release of 1971, KILLER, helped solidify the band's position as rock's most notorious, shocking, violent, sleazy, and theatrical band of the day. Cut from the same musical cloth as its predecessor, LOVE IT TO DEATH, KILLER replaces the space-rock of their earliest releases with blaring hard rock. Also, the band successfully broadened its palette on KILLER by adding orchestrated sounds and synthesizers to the mix.
Several tracks would become Alice Cooper staples, such as the vicious "Desperado" (which uses acoustic guitar and a string section to great effect), and the anthemic leadoff track "Under My Wheels." Criticized and misconstrued at the time of the album's release, the eerie "Dead Babies" deals with child abuse--still disturbing stuff all these years later. One of Cooper's more progressive tunes, "Halo of Flies" is an eight-minute-plus highlight, consisting of several different sections, ditto the nearly-as-long closing title track. KILLER is classic Alice Cooper, and would go on to serve as an obvious touchstone for such future rockers as Kiss, White Zombie, and Marilyn Manson.Rolling Stone (1/6/72, p.68) - "...KILLER is without a doubt the best Alice Cooper album yet and one of the finest rock & roll recordings released in 1971..." -Lester Bangs

5 stars A killer rock album
Killer, produced by Bob Ezrin, is definitely the best Alice Cooper album and one of the greatest rock records ever made. The first four tracks Under My Wheels, Be My Lover, Halo of Flies and Desperado, side one of the original vinyl LP, make up as good a record side as any cut. Killer has sat at the top of my favourites chart for thirty five years and been listened to hundreds of times. I would like to have my all time favourite track Halo of Flies played when I depart this earth. If you love rock music and don’t have this album, buy it.

5 stars The King of Shock Rock
Alice Cooper is one of the few true originals in rock and roll. He single handedly invented a new genre of rock music, both lyrical and theatrical. This is a "killer" album with excellent vocals, guitar work, lyrics and production. Every song on this album is a winner. There really isn't much else I can say about Alice Cooper that hasn't been said already. If you are a fan of rock music, you need this album.

5 stars Large Metal Rock!!!!
While Rock and Roll was seeking a direction in the early 1970's, Alice Cooper's Killer grabbed the steering wheel and spun it. Killer encompasses everything from hard core, heavy metal to intense rock ballads. The perfect rock ensemble featuring strong guitars (Glen Burton), keyboards (Michael Bruce), erie bass guitar work on Dead Babies (Dennis Dunaway) and the strong rhythm of drums (Neil Smith). Topped with Alice Cooper's soul touching vocals provides the perfect mix for any heavy rock enthusiast.

5 stars Laying The Path Of Gold
This album shook the music scene foundation, up-setting parents and churches in the nation, while bringing 'Shock Rock' into full bloom. This album was also when Alice Cooper was trying to decide on his character facial make-up. The music and songs of this album is "Fantastic". This album is a must for fans and researchers of Alice Cooper. This album has has a really cool calendarin it also.

Live Recording Alice Cooper: Alice Cooper (vocals); Michael Bruce (guitar, keyboards); Glen Buxton (guitar); Dennis Dunaway (bass instrument); Neal Smith (drums).
Alice Cooper's third album, Love It to Death, can be pinpointed as the release when everything began to come together for the band. Their first couple of albums (Pretties for You and Easy Action) were both largely psychedelic/acid rock affairs and bore little comparison to the band's eventual rip-roaring, teenage-anthem direction. The main reason for the quintet's change was that the eventually legendary producer Bob Ezrin was on board for the first time and helped the Coopers focus their songwriting and sound, while they also perfected their trashy, violent, and theatrical stage show and image. One of the band's most instantly identifiable anthems, "I'm Eighteen," was what made the album a hit, as well as another classic, "Is It My Body." But like Alice Cooper's other albums from the early '70s, it was an incredibly consistent listen from beginning to end. The garage rocker "Caught in a Dream" as well as the ass-kicking "Long Way to Go" and a pair of epics -- the Doors-esque "Black Juju" and the eerie "Ballad of Dwight Fry" -- showed that Alice was easily in league with other high-energy Detroit bands of the era (MC5, Stooges). Perfect Prescription
Spacemen 3 Perfect Prescription CD  (1987)

Spacemen 3: Jason (vocals, guitar, organ, Farfisa organ); Sonic Boom (vocals, guitar, organ); Bassman (bass).
Additional personnel: Owen John (violin); Alex Green (saxophone); Mick Manning (trumpet); Rosco (percussion).
Producers: Pete "Sonic Boom" Kember, Jason Pierce.
Drawing together some earlier material and a slew of new songs, Spacemen 3 tied everything together on the brilliant Perfect Prescription, the clear point of departure from tribute to psych inspirations and finding its own unique voice. Planned as a concept album, Perfect Prescription works where so many other similar efforts failed due to the strength of the individual songs, as well as the smart focus of the concept in question -- a vision of a drug trip from inception to its blasted conclusion, highs and lows fully intact. The bookending of the album makes that much clear -- "Take Me to the Other Side" is a brash, exultant charge into the joys of the experience, a sharp, tight performance. "Call the Doctor," meanwhile, is a pretty-but-wounded conclusion, husky singing and a drowsy mood detailing the final collapse. The many highlights in between beginning and end are so striking that the album is practically a best-of in all but name. Sonic's eventual work with Spectrum and E.A.R. gets clearly signaled via the majestic reprise of the Transparent Radiation single, here introduced by the swirling flange of an edited "Ecstasy Symphony," also originally from that release. Sonic's breathless delivery of the Red Krayola classic, combined with the elegant arrangement, is a marvel to hear. "Walkin' With Jesus," meanwhile, is practically the birth of Spiritualized, the much different earlier takes now become a reflective combination of acoustic guitar, two-note keyboard lines, and Pierce's yearning, aching desire. The intentionally nasty flip to that is the storming charge of "Things'll Never Be the Same," a call to arms (or injecting something into them) that's as disturbing as it is energetic, the compressed, violent rage of feedback and rhythmic charge a gripping listen. Guest performers from the Jazz Butcher family tree, including Alex Green on sax, help expand the record's sonic range even further. Further reissues include a rotating series of bonus tracks from contemporary singles. ~ Ned Raggett

Live Recording Fleetwood Mac: Danny Kirwan, Bob Welch (vocals, guitar); Christine McVie (vocals, piano); John McVie (bass); Mick Fleetwood (drums).
Recorded at Advision Studios, London, England.
By the time of this album's release, Jeremy Spencer had been replaced by Bob Welch and Christine McVie had begun to assert herself more as a singer and songwriter. The result is a distinct move toward folk-rock and pop; Future Games sounds almost nothing like Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Welch's eight-minute title track has one of his characteristic haunting melodies, and with pruning and better editing, it could have been a hit. Christine McVie's "Show Me a Smile" is one of her loveliest ballads. Initial popular reaction ...

CD $11.49
Born in the urban wasteland of Kansas City, inspired by the great guitar noise expressionists, fed by a common dislike for the schmooze and surpassed by no one; Rocket Fuel Is The Key.Back in the early days (mid 90's), it was a raw explosion of fury backed by precision execution that was the core. Rocket Fuel Is The Key's debut album -"Consider It Contempt" released mid '96 on Thirsty Ear- tore a new hole in the noise of the 90's.Held for a time in suspended animation, the 3 have honed the craft to include expanded songwriting talents with no less the anger. At the top of their game, Durgin (gtr, vox), Denson (thick strings) and Johnson (drums), return with an onslaught of dischordal bliss and intense vocal hooks galore. Built on a foundation ...
Fabric 39
Robert Hood Fabric 39 CD  (2008)

Killer
CD $13.89  Audio Samples
One of the most original voices of the second wave of Detroit techno producers, beginning in the early-`90s, Robert Hood made a virtue of stripping back electronic music's rave-addled excess. Hood's productions, including his groundbreaking MINIMAL NATION, explore subtle nuances of rhythm and tone, utilizing the bare minimum of elements-a pulsing synth chord and four-on-the-floor rhythms. FABRIC 39, a mix commissioned by the famed U.K. nightclub Fabric, continues Hood's near monomaniacal approach to techno innovation, creating a propulsive mix of stripped-down funk and steady state rhythms.
Despite being less in touch with the contemporary global techno scene than ever (during an interview with Resident Advisor, he referred to recent favorite Magda, a U.S.-raised woman, as a German man), ex-Detroiter and current Alabamian (!) Robert Hood remains proficient when it comes to unloosening a rigorous minimal techno beatdown. Unsurprisingly, Hood sprinkles over a dozen of his own old and new productions into the 32-track Fabric 39, and the tracks by others he does select -- from the likes of Steve Rachmad's Scorp, DJ Skull, and Mion -- often date back several years, or even a full decade, so he clearly has no intent to bring anyone up to date. One could approach the mix in the educational sense, as a way of understanding the difference between the original meaning of minimal techno and what passed as minimal during the early 2000s, but the all-but-guaranteed absorption that comes with playing this swift, shapely, pummeling set isn't all that conducive to getting some thinking done. What might surprise the ears of some listeners is the lack of tracks limited to deadened four-four kicks and pinging effects; while a large portion of inclusions are stripped bare, with only a pulse-racing thump and one or two sweeping accents, several cuts are house through and through, a fact that could easily ...
