No home should be without at least one copy of TUSK. Fleetwood Mac's magnum opus of 1979 is considered by some to be their greatest work. And while you are probably familiar with the hits, you may not realize that this recording is full of gems ... Full Descriptionlike Christine McVie's gorgeous "Brown Eyes" and Lindsey Buckingham's rousing and infectious "I Know I'm Not Wrong." Of course, even the Nikei industrial average would sound beautiful if it were sung with Christine's wonderful voice. And Lindsey Buckingham's home recordings that show up here are a virtual blueprint for the indie-rock home-recording scene that would flourish nearly 20 years later. While some records from this period seem campy and quaint in retrospect, TUSK still sounds terrific, thanks to those Dashut/Buckingham production values. But what's up with that marching band on the title track?

Uncut (4/04, p.112) - 5 stars out of 5 - "[T]his was the exact AOR equivalent of PiL's METAL BOX, where a mainstream icon suddenly subverts their art from within the system..." Mojo (Publisher) (4/04, p.122) - 3 stars out of 5 - "[T]he collection had some moments of shimmering beauty....TUSK's greatest worth is as an accurate and telling musical indication of where the band members' solo albums would go." Hide Description Tusk Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Buckingham/ Nicks influence on MAC The influence of B & N definitely changes the sound of Fleetwood Mac. I do prefer the albums with their conributions (sorry for the die hard FMAC fans)on it. Great sound, extra long album. This is a must have for all fans, especially of B & N . Enjoy!! nice follow up to Rumours it's very different sound for Fleetwood Mac. Lindsay Buckingham really took over in the studio and it says it all over this album. Submitted by ejh-79 (Irvine CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
awesome I am simply 29 years late. I remember looking at this great cover when Tusk was released and wondered what kind of band that was. Well, being 14 years of age, you can't blame me for that. Fast foward....I got the double vinyl record set last week (vinyl, yeah!) and was STUNNED at what I heard. Tusk still sounbs fresh after all these years. If you really like good music, you can't miss this one! Submitted by fzke (Woodside, NY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Tusk, still great after 20 years of listening! I first bought a copy of Tusk 20 years ago in '79, having just cottoned on to Rumours two years too late!
As a University music graduate I am forever struck by the way that all of the Mac menbers can ring sung beauty out of 2 or 3 chords. They have been using the same ones for so long but they never dissappoint, particularly Stevie.
Sisters of the Moon uses her classic 3 chord rotation around a minor chord chord stepping down to the 2 major chords below and back but oh those ghostly harmonies that are just hanging over the chords! Lindsey copmpletes the magic with a long screaming note on the guitar that just hangs there as the chords change.Heaven. I only wish that the CD contained the full version of Sara as the original album did as it is again a classic example of Stevies' ability to ring the most out of a very simple set up.
Here's to the new Lindsey album and a new Mac studio album, hint, hint.

Tusk album
$9.99 The real star of BARE TREES is guitarist/vocalist Danny Kirwan, who contributes the gorgeous guitar instrumental "Sunny Side of Heaven" and "Bare Trees," a funky rocker that was a massive FM radio staple throughout the seventies. It was new guitarist Bob Welch, however, who wrote and sang the modest hit "Sentimental Lady," a haunting, romantic ballad that remains one of Fleetwood Mac's finest moments. Christime McVie's "Spare Me A Little Of Your Love" hints at Fleetwood Mac's future direction. BARE TREES is a rewarding, well-crafted album that stands on its own merits rather than the Fleetwood Mac legend.
Fleetwood Mac's massive pop success often overshadows the group's origins as one of the premier English ...

$9.79 Principally recorded at The Record Plant & Wally Heider Recording Studios, Los Angeles, California; Criteria Studios, Miami, Florida; Davlen Recording Studio, North Hollywood, California.
The reviewers tell us what to buy, but the public actually part with the cash. Surely 26 million people cannot be wrong, as original Mac guitarist Peter Green's creation became the prime example of AOR long after his departure. The inner strife and turmoil of the band is credited as having helped to make this many-headed beast into such a success. Keyboardist Christine ...
| | Fleetwood Mac Mirage CD (1982)
Tusk music CDs
$10.15 After the 1979 release of the precocious but misunderstood double album TUSK, which fell disappointingly below the mind-blowing sales of 1977's multi-platinum RUMOURS, the band decided to take a safer route for their next release. In sunny contrast to the melancholy introspection of TUSK, 1982's MIRAGE returned the band to bright melodies and hit single material. The advent of MTV led the band to release two artistic videos in conjunction with the record, the Magritte-inspired desert fantasy of "Hold Me," Christine McVie's lush, pleading love song, and the handsome, Depression-era daydream of "Gypsy," one of Nicks' prettiest signature tunes.
The jangling bonhomie of MIRAGE even affects Buckingham's darker songs; though lyrically heartbroken, on "Book of Love" Buckingham sounds almost cheerful. His husky "Empire State" is a love-giddy ode to New York. Nicks' "Straight Back" feels spiritually tied to the duskier tone of her 1981 solo album BELLADONNA, and the mistress of the moon even tries her hand at country with the twanging lope of ...
| | Fleetwood Mac Tango In The Night CD (1987)
Tusk songs
$10.95 Not having the mega-multi-million sales of RUMOURS allows this record greater credibility--the listener has the choice of discovering it. A worthy album, late in their career, many million miles away from the monster Peter Green created. It showed a much happier and cleaner Fleetwood ...
| | Fleetwood Mac Dance CD (1997)
Tusk album
$15.65 THE DANCE was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Pop Album. "Silver Springs" was nominated for a 1998 Grammy for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. "The Chain" was nominated for a 1998 Grammy for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
Inasmuch as Fleetwood Mac's classic 1970s albums drew much of their charm from their quirky arrangements and fastidious studio craft, it's a bit odd that the band would choose to reunite with a live, largely unplugged album. But somehow, the first album by the Fleetwood-McVie-McVie-Buckingham-Nicks lineup since 1987's TANGO IN THE NIGHT manages to recapture a good deal of the old feel, which had a lot to do with three very different singer-songwriters agreeing to live together under the umbrella of a single flexible rhythm section.
After dispensing with the group effort "The Chain," which leads off this set, the reconstituted Mac spends the rest of the album showing off its separate parts for the distinct elements they are, while mixing a few new songs into a collection of classics. Lindsey Buckingham rips through the late-period hit "Big Love" unaccompanied, compensating for his shrinking vocal range with some blistering guitar picking. Stevie Nicks stretches out "Rhiannon" like ...

| | Suicide Machines CD (2000)
Tusk music CDs
$9.19 A marriage of a punk/ska sensibility to catchy songwriting is the simplest way to describe the music of Detroit natives the Suicide Machines. The band's third album, THE SUICIDE MACHINES, continues the group's tradition of emotional extremes. The group has focused its sound, and it's obvious that the Suicide Machines have settled into their collective skin as a pop band.
"Green" revisits ground broken by pop-punk pioneers such as All, while "I Hate Everything" slips in some hip-hop stylings. The band delivers a heavy-handed love anthem with "Perfect ...
