No home should be without at least one copy of TUSK. Fleetwood Mac's magnum opus of 1979 is considered by some to be their greatest work. And while you are probably familiar with the hits, you may not realize that this recording is full of gems like Christine McVie's gorgeous "Brown Eyes" and Lindsey Buckingham's rousing and infectious "I Know I'm Not Wrong." Of course, even the Nikei industrial average would sound beautiful if it were sung with Christine's wonderful voice. And Lindsey Buckingham's home recordings that show up here are a virtual blueprint for the indie-rock home-recording scene that would flourish nearly 20 years later. While some records from this period seem campy and quaint in retrospect, TUSK still sounds terrific, thanks to those Dashut/Buckingham production values. But what's up with that marching band on the title track?

| Tusk Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) Buckingham/ Nicks influence on MAC The influence of B & N definitely changes the sound of Fleetwood Mac. I do prefer the albums with their conributions (sorry for the die hard FMAC fans)on it. Great sound, extra long album. This is a must have for all fans, especially of B & N . Enjoy!! nice follow up to Rumours it's very different sound for Fleetwood Mac. Lindsay Buckingham really took over in the studio and it says it all over this album. Submitted by ejh-79 (Irvine CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
awesome I am simply 29 years late. I remember looking at this great cover when Tusk was released and wondered what kind of band that was. Well, being 14 years of age, you can't blame me for that. Fast foward....I got the double vinyl record set last week (vinyl, yeah!) and was STUNNED at what I heard. Tusk still sounbs fresh after all these years. If you really like good music, you can't miss this one! Submitted by fzke (Woodside, NY, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Tusk, still great after 20 years of listening! I first bought a copy of Tusk 20 years ago in '79, having just cottoned on to Rumours two years too late!
As a University music graduate I am forever struck by the way that all of the Mac menbers can ring sung beauty out of 2 or 3 chords. They have been using the same ones for so long but they never dissappoint, particularly Stevie.
Sisters of the Moon uses her classic 3 chord rotation around a minor chord chord stepping down to the 2 major chords below and back but oh those ghostly harmonies that are just hanging over the chords! Lindsey copmpletes the magic with a long screaming note on the guitar that just hangs there as the chords change.Heaven. I only wish that the CD contained the full version of Sara as the original album did as it is again a classic example of Stevies' ability to ring the most out of a very simple set up.
Here's to the new Lindsey album and a new Mac studio album, hint, hint.

Inasmuch as Fleetwood Mac's classic 1970s albums drew much of their charm from their quirky arrangements and fastidious studio craft, it's a bit odd that the band would choose to reunite with a live, largely unplugged album. But somehow, the first album by the Fleetwood-McVie-McVie-Buckingham-Nicks lineup since 1987's TANGO IN THE NIGHT manages to recapture a good deal of the old feel, which had a lot to do with three very different singer-songwriters ...
| | Fleetwood Mac CD (1975) Bonus Tracks; Remastered; Deluxe Edition
Tusk album
$12.05 With this album, years of personnel changes ended for Fleetwood Mac with the departure of guitarist Bob Welch. The remaining core of the group (Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Christine McVie) invited guitarist/vocalist Lindsey Buckingham and singer Stevie Nicks to join, and thus began the most commercially successful period for Fleetwood Mac. With 3 strong songwriters in Nicks, Buckingham and Christine McVie, FLEETWOOD MAC was their first number-1 album.
PETER GREEN'S FLEETWOOD MAC, the band's full-length debut, is miles removed from commercially tailored soft rock of Fleetwood Mac's 1970s incarnation. The '60s version of the band, led by guitarist/singer Peter Green, was edgy, psychedelic, and rooted deeply in the blues. Green's love of revved-up 12-bar jams, raw boogie grooves, and shredding ...
| | Peter Green Mirage CD (1982)
Tusk CD music
$10.45 After the 1979 release of the precocious but misunderstood double album TUSK, which fell disappointingly below the mind-blowing sales of 1977's multi-platinum RUMOURS, the band decided to take a safer route for their next release. In sunny contrast to the melancholy introspection of TUSK, 1982's MIRAGE returned the band to bright melodies and hit single material. The advent of MTV led the band to release two artistic videos in conjunction with the record, the Magritte-inspired desert fantasy of "Hold Me," Christine McVie's lush, pleading ...

| | A Camp (Special Edition) CD (2001) (Import) Special Edition; United Kingdom
Tusk album
$11.99 A CAMP is the solo project of ex-Cardigans member Nina Persson. Joined by members of the ambient-pop band Sparklehorse, Persson creates sweet and dreamy country-inflected tunes. "Frequent Flyer," "Angel of Sadness," and "Bluest Eyes in Texas" (used in the film BOYS DON'T CRY) are included.
A Camp breathes new life into the career of the Cardigans' Nina Persson. Recorded partly in New York and partly in Sweden, and produced almost entirely by Sparklehorse's Mark Linkous with a great deal of engineering help and instrument swapping from Shudder to Think's Nathan Larson, A Camp sparkles with country twang and lush orchestration. Many of the songs have been reworked from original recordings Persson made with producer Niclas Frisk. Persson saw those recordings as being too dark and depressed, so she approached Linkous with a plan to brighten the mood and tone of the songs. Having previously cited Linkous as her dream producer, it's clear that Persson is in fine spirits throughout the recording. The included CD-ROM video for "I Can Buy You" shows Persson brimming with content during the recording process and taking time out for Tetris, target practice, and basketball. For the most part, A Camp straddles a pop country sound that recalls the work of Lee Hazlewood, Dusty Springfield, and Wilco. Brill Building polish and country swagger rarely blend together with this much grace. "I Can Buy You" couldn't be more sublime, especially when Persson seductively sing-hums "oh yeah, oh yeah." Two other highlights are "Song for the Leftovers," ...
