While Black Sabbath remained one of heavy metal's top concert draws throughout the late '70s, the band's albums of the era proved to not be on par with its earlier work. This creative weakness was what caused vocalist Ozzy Osbourne to split ... Full Descriptionfrom the band in 1979 to launch a highly successful solo career. Sabbath used the opportunity to refocus its direction, eventually replacing the group's batty frontman with ex-Rainbow member Ronnie James Dio. The new line-up's first album, 1980's HEAVEN AND HELL, proved to be Black Sabbath's most successful (both commercially and artistically) in a long time. The opening number, "Neon Knights," remains one of Sabbath's most ferocious, while "Children of the Sea" alternates between dark, brooding metal and a gentle melodicism that's stressed even further on "Lady Evil" and "Die Young."
Recorded at Criteria Recording Studios, Miami, Florida and Studio Ferber, Paris, France.
Black Sabbath: Ronnie James Dio (vocals); Tony Iommi (guitar); Geezer Butler (bass); Bill Ward (drums).
Additional personnel: Geoff Nicholls (keyboards).
Hide Description Black Sabbath Heaven And Hell Songs Heaven And Hell Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews The best version of Black Sabbath! The music is so clean and crisp. Ronnie James Dio is by far a more talented vocalist the Ozzie. The best thing that ever happened to Black Sabbath was the joining of Dio in my opinion. A very good Black Sabbath Release Overall, a very strong release from Black Sabbath with Dio. Obviously, very different from the earlier years. Unfortunately, the recording is below average. A quality digital remaster would probably help. Submitted by a reviewer (Dallas, Texas, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful.
The best album they ever recorded! In this album Black Sabbath has got the mix perfect. Heaven and hell has got everything a good album needs. The guitars are set up just right, the sound is amazing, i can't get over how good it is! It's a real 'make you wanna get up and dance' album. Well done boys! The ultimate heavy metal album! This is it,all the elements of a great metal album.Great tunes, the powerful and melodic vocals of Dio,Iommi's crushing guitar tones, with Butler and Ward serving up a solid foundation. The last track 'lonely is the word',in my opinion,is the best slow metal tune of all time. One of the best sounding metal albums in my collection."Hand your hand, and take my hand,it's the only road i know.Yeah, lonely is the word.." Heaven And Hell album
$15.18 Dream Theater's tenth long-player is about as dense and challenging as any album in the band's discography and emphasizes not only the virtuoso members' stupefying musicianship, but also their most aggressive and thoroughly metallic songwriting tendencies. The sixteen-minute opener "A Nightmare to Remember" quickly establishes this agenda via frequently thrash-paced staccato riffing, some of John Petrucci's most blistering guitar solos ever, and the return of drummer Mike Portnoy's syncopated growls, which provide contrast for singer James LaBrie's soaring melodic elegance. "The Count of Tuscany" is a heady prog-metal magnum opus brimming with more ideas, notes, and time changes over 19 minutes than most bands bother with over a ten album career. In fact, "Whither," a tender ballad and mere babe at five minutes in length, is the album's only concession to commerce. Black Clouds & Silver Linings, for all ...

Heaven And Hell CD music
$11.98 Possibly more so than any other prior Voivod release, 2009's INFINITI is all about their late guitarist (and co-founding member) Piggy. Armed with guitar parts he recorded prior to his 2005 passing, the surviving Voivod members subsequently set out to finish off these final tracks. And musically, INFINITI really is a tribute of sorts to ...

| | Chum Dewey Decibel System CD (2006)
Heaven And Hell songs
$12.69 ‘The Dewey Decibel System’ is the debut album from Southern California’s Killerest Surf Band. CHUM is not your dad’s surf music, there are no pretty harmonies, no Old Ladies from The Valley. There’s just guitar, bass, drums, volume, reverb, attitude, and a smile. Phil Dirt from Reverb Central (one of the foremost authorities on surf music) says this about CHUM’s ‘The Dewey Decibel System’… “Highly intense and thick sound, sometimes downright threatening, Chum have developed into a gray-green storm surf band with a very strong delivery.” Yes, small, but MIGHTY!!! The CHUM line-up on ‘The Dewey Decibel System’ is Roger Merritt on guitar, Ted Thompson on bass, and Adrien Anthony on drums. One thing worth pointing out is that the album is dedicated to the memory of the late, great Dewey Weber. A World Champion Surfer, South Bay Icon, Surfboard Shaper, and shop owner, Commercial Fisherman, and all around great guy (depending on who you talk to.) He was always one to trade in your busted up surfboard, and give you ...
