Major Hit!
I am a jazz musician who grew as a child of the 70's. I had heard George Playing live straight ahead jazz and he is major. When "Give Me The Night" came out I was a sophmore at North Carolina A & T. It was one of Quincy Jones produced Mega Hits. Michael Jackson's "Off The Wall" was out around that time, and George's record like Jackson's had 4 or 5 hits on it. Buy This Record! PEACE Bradford

Disco Benson
This is part of Quincy Jones' incredibly successful collaboration with arranger/keyboardist Rod Temperton; originally of the disco group Heatwave. Other Jones/Temperton projects from this period include: 'Off The Wall' & 'Thriller' by Micheal Jackson, 'Feets Don't Fail Me Now' by Herbie Hancock, 'Every Home Should Have One' by Patti Austin, 'Masterjam' by Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, and 'The Dude' by Quincy Jones.
This is a very good and very successful record and the beginning of Benson being a pop star instead of a jazz legend. There are only two slightly jazzy instrumentals here ('Off Broadway' & 'Dinarah,Dinorah') along with four radio ballads ('Love Dance', 'Midnight Love Affair', 'Turn Out The Lamplight' and a very smooth cover of Heatwave's 'Star Of The Story'), one jazz standard ('Moody's Mood') and three disco hits ('Love x Love', 'Give Me The Night', & 'What's On Your Mind'). All in all, this is a very enjoyable album. "What it has will surely last, but is that jazz?"

This Is The Man!
George Benson knows jazz and musicans very well. George Benson's music is a gold mine of precious music. His albums will last for ever and ever for any jazz singer or musican. As a person that grew up in the 70s and 80s, this album is still just as precious to me as the first day that I bought this album. This is definitely a treasure chest of music for any George Benson fan.
