KILN HOUSE was released at a critical juncture for Fleetwood Mac; leader Peter Green had left the band, and guitarist/vocalists Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwan were left to pick up the slack. Fortunately, they took the ball and ran with it, taking the opportunity to move beyond the blues-based sound of the group's Green-era work.
American roots influences still abound, as on the rockabilly-styled "This is the Rock" and the 3/4-time country tune "Blood on the Floor," but on "Jewel-Eyed Judy" and others, the band moves towards a more progressive, early-'70s British rock sound. The twin guitars and songcraft of Kirwan and Spencer are the driving force behind KILN HOUSE, an album that marked the beginning of an important new chapter in Fleetwood Mac's history.

Additional personnel: Christine Perfect (background vocals).Rolling Stone (11/26/70, p.38) - "...KILN HOUSE...is a venture that would make [Buddy] Holly and [Gene] Vincent unabashedly proud as godparents to the album..." Q (7/93, p.106) - 2 Stars - Average - "...an odd mixture, alternating between Spencer's rock'n'roll and country pastiches (plus one charmingly gentle love song) and Kirwan's exploratory blues-derived material, with its pleasing discipline and incisive guitar work..." strange F MAC effort i have to say---about this release--it's a strange one. i LOVE all the F Mac eras--they can really play well in the different lineups---but here,i only can dig STATION MAN.the other tunes are kinda listless and meandering.i'd get Mystery to me,or....another MAC cd before this.Especially as an introduction to the band..... When music was REAL! One of the best of Fleetwood Mac's pre "yuppie" era. Good solid rock. A rare find on CD. Great Stuff! Submitted by a reviewer (Kansas City, Missouri, U.S.A.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
One of my favorie albums EVER This is really happy music, I've worn out my vinyl, but I don't know what I would do without a version with all the familiar skips and pops.
Jeremy Spencer really shines here, 40 years befor his 2006 release: "Precious Little". Check it out, it's a gem. Submitted by Mark (Utica, MI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Rare Fleetwood Mac Find...... I bought Kiln House when I first heard it, besides a few non-luster tracks, This ALbum rocked! The dual guitar work(minus Leader Peter Green) surprised and delighted me. Fleetowd Mac has gone through alot of personel changes over the years, yeilding many different flavors of music along the way. If you have never heard this collection, by all means its worth every penny! Submitted by mga4u2 (Cleveland, Ohio) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Kiln House album
$10.45 By this album, Fleetwood Mac had only 2 members from the original line-up of 1967: Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Danny Kirwan joined in 1968, in time for the group's second album. Christine McVie (nee Perfect) joined in 1970, and Bob Welch joined in Spring 1971 to replace departed guitarist Jeremy Spencer.

| | Peter Green Penguin CD (1973)
Kiln House CD music
$10.45 1973 was a busy year for Fleetwood Mac, who continued to ply a mix of California country rock and blues at a time when glam ruled the roost in England. PENGUIN was one of two albums recorded that year and the band's first since parting ways with Danny Kirwan. Replacing him were English guitarist Bob Weston and singer Dave Walker, who the Mac stole from Savoy Brown after an American tour with that band. Due to a fair amount of drunk and disorderly behavior in the studio, Walker's contributions were minimal. He penned a country-flavored number called "The Derelict" and sings lead and plays harmonica on Jr. Walker's "(I'm A) Road Runner."
Despite this slight turmoil, the rest of PENGUIN is a wonderful ...
| | Fleetwood Mac Mystery To Me CD (1973)
Kiln House music CDs
$9.65 Released in 1973 and now regarded as an important transitional album in Fleetwood Mac's long march towards superstardom, MYSTERY TO ME featured the lineup of Mick Fleetwood, John and Christine McVie, singer/guitarist Bob Welch and guitarist Bob Weston. The hiring of Welch had angered original guitarist Danny Kirwan and after a 1972 gig, the volatile Kirwan went berserk backstage and was fired. On MYSTERY TO ME, the follow-up to PENGUIN (1973) and the band's strongest album in years, the luminous ...
| | Fleetwood Mac Bare Trees CD (1972)
Kiln House songs
$9.65 The real star of BARE TREES is guitarist/vocalist Danny Kirwan, who contributes the gorgeous guitar instrumental "Sunny Side of Heaven" and "Bare Trees," a funky rocker that was a massive FM radio staple throughout the seventies. It was new guitarist Bob Welch, however, who wrote and sang the modest hit "Sentimental Lady," a haunting, romantic ballad that remains one ...

Led by singer-guitarist Peter Green, the first version of Fleetwood Mac was one of England's premier bands and possibly the greatest white blues band ever to emerge from the '60s blues ...
| | Sublime Greatest Hits CD (1999) Enhanced CD; Import
Kiln House CD music
$13.89 The story of Brad Nowell could easily be compared to that of the late John Belushi. Nowell was a gifted artist who knew full well the dangers of excess. His promising life was tragically cut short by a drug overdose just as his career was hitting its stride. GREATEST HITS chronicles the short, sweet trip taken by Nowell and his comrades in Sublime.
Few bands in '90s pop were able to hop genres as seamlessly and with as much spirit as Sublime. "What I Got," their breakthrough single, was hungrily eaten up by alternative radio, as were "Wrong Way" and "Santeria." For those who know little of the group beyond their hits, GREATEST HITS fills out the picture. The trippy xylophone and laid-back hip-hop of "Doin' Time" frame lyrics displaying Nowell's vulnerable side. Fellow punk-ska enthusiast Gwen Stefani lends her pipes to the melodic dialogue of "Saw Red." "Badfish" is a reggae-tinged ballad that looks at ocean pollution from an intimate perspective. Nowell truly lived the punk ethic ...
