Ain't no crime in having a good time and everybody partied at the New York Rock & Soul Revue held live at New York's Beacon Theater; the lineup of Phoebe Snow, Donald Fagan, Charles Brown, Michael McDonald, and Eddie and David Brigati (the Rascals) saw to that. While some performances come off as perfunctory and there's nothing you could label outstanding, the soul is real and heartfelt. Top performances come from Brown (the oldest person in the show), Snow and McDonald, Boz Scaggs ("Drowning in the Sea of Love"), and Fagen (a jazzy "Madison Time," which he performs accompanied by Jeff & the Youngsters in a full-blown reprise that closes the concert). ~ Andrew Hamilton
Recorded live at the Beacon Theatre, New York on March 1 & 2, 1991. Includes liner notes by Donald Fagen.

you gotta have this For 5 years i have tried to find this album. 1 visit to cd universe and its right in front of me. at last a music lovers sweetshop. Submitted by d.ralton (aberdeen , scotland , united kingdom) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Donald Fagen at his best I have always been a Steely Dan fan and Donald Fagen is at his best in this concert. Michael Mc Donald and Phoebe Snow are great additions. All the songs are preformed with precision. Jeff Young and the Youngsters are a solid back up band. Dennis Mc Dermott lays down a great beat on the drums. The late Cornelius Bumpus is masterful on the tenor sax.
I only wish this concert was out on dvd. The sound is excellent.
