Considering that Tony Iommi is the sole remaining member from the classic Sabbath lineup, it's not surprising that the centerfold of the CD booklet finds him sitting alone in his black Porsche. Changing personnel more times than Spinal Tap changed ... Full Descriptiondrummers, Iommi was determined to keep the Sabbath name alive in the metal-friendly late '80s. 1987's ETERNAL IDOL is a powerful, if uneven, record.
Tony Martin's strong vocals, along with Iommi's melodic riffing, carry IDOL throughout. "The Shining" and "Glory Ride" are fine headbanging numbers, while "Scarlett Pimpernel" is a somber acoustic instrumental. The title track is an epic tune, and the grand finale to an impressive album. For IDOL, Iommi wrote all the songs and IS Black Sabbath, though the additional musicians, all metal veterans, contribute to the music. IDOL is a thumbs-up winner.

this is more of a power-metal sabbath, featuring some slick guitar work from iommi and some harmonic metal vocals from tony martin. Overall a very cleanly produced album, yet a forgotten one in the sabbath canon. "the shining" and the title track are worth the price of admission alone.

 A must have
I have been a Black Sabbath fan for 25 years and this is truly one of their best efforts...very reminiscent of the Dio era (ie. Heaven and Hell, Mob Rules) this has a wonderful sound of its own, bluesy, soulful and yes heavy enough to be called Sabbath. One of my favorites of all - I never get tired of listening to this one.

Guys, this is one of the BEST albums of ALL TIME!! Guitar and the Bassguitar are absolutely POWERFUL! The Drumming is so groovy and Mighty! Tony's voice comes from both the Hell and the Heaven...
Production (Jeff Glixman) and mixing are perfect even for today's hi-tech standards.

As the title says, it most definitly shows how Black Sabbath progressed through a great decade of the 80s. First off, in comes Tony Martin on vocals,what a killer set of pipes this Brit has, the songs are all very catchy and memorable such as Hard Life to Love and Nightmare...If you liked the Dio era of the Sabbs, then this album is an absolute MUST! Heavy, Loud, Long Live Rock, and Once you have listened to the Dio/Tony Martin Era you will appreciate OZZY leaving Sabbath...

Powerful, glorious and mayestetic.
What can I say? This is a top album by Iommi, definitely. If you are looking for genuine heavy metal with a touch of golden riffs, stop looking!

Accompanied by a plethora of talented musicians, Kennedy's second album is ten tracks of wonderfully sung and arranged songs.Focusing heavily on a traditional repertoire, Kennedy sings in both English and Irish, choosing songs that highlight her pure voice.Beginning with 'Go From My Window', the English songs go on to include the tragic 'Fair Helen of Kirkconnel' and the melancholy 'Farewell to Tarwathie'. But lest you think this album is a depressing collection of ballads. Kennedy spices things up with some Bob Dylan in the form of 'Boots of Spanish Leather', and some fantastic Irish-language tracks including 'Aillillin na Gamhna' and the rollicking 'An Paistin Fionn'. The latter has a great beat and Kennedy's voice lightly trips along the jaunty tune. Ending with The Parting Song', a gentle song of leaving, the album finishes on a beautiful note.Although the lyrics are included for the Irish songs, they are only included in English, though none of the English songs include lyrics. Lunatics Without Skateboards started in 1988 when band members Manfred van Zadelhoff (bass) and John Frijn (lead vocals) met each other through 'demo trading'. Demo trading was a way of collecting music by trading tapes between fanatical metal-music fans. Before they met, Manfred played in ‘Whiplash’ and John in ‘the Stray Bullets’. After a while they both got the idea to start a speed-metal band since that was their most favorite music. This was the first step in founding 'Lunatics Without Skateboards'. Former ‘Whiplash’ guitarplayer Dennis and former ‘Stray Bullets’ drummer Donovan and guitarplayer Joost joined the band. At that time Anthrax was a very popular band. As you probably know they wore short pants and liked skateboarding and a lot of bands followed their example. An acquaintance came up with the name ‘Lunatics without Skateboards’ as an anti- statement. It changed into L.W.S., added the word ‘Incorporated’ and got known as L.W.S. inc. After some practice sessions the first songs were born and the band made plans to record a demo, which was later recorded in a bulb shed somewhere around Andijk (in the north of the Netherlands). They recorded five songs, including the numbers 'Mental Weakness' and 'LWS', in two days on an 8-track recorder. The demo was called 'Death an Die Demo', because in every number at least one time the word death or die appeared. After recording this demo L.W.S. began to play live in the Netherlands and Belgium. Also Dutch National Radio discovered L.W.S. inc. At that time 'Vara's Vuurwerk' was one of the few radio shows playing metal music. The presenter of this radioshow played LWS inc. a lot and the song 'Lunatics without Skateboards' was one of his favorite tracks.
