David Lynch's surreal take on the film noir murder-mystery springs to haunting life in TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME, the 1992 prequel film to the cult television series, as scored by Grammy Award winner Angelo Badalamenti. The soundtrack accentuates Lynch's noir theme with a smooth integration of several jazz styles, including hard bop, bebop, swing, cool, and modal jazz. Badalamenti's characteristically dark and moody themes are realized with the help of a roster of renowned session musicians, including tenor saxophonist Albert Regni, vibraphonist Jay Hoggard, bassist Buster Williams, guitarist Myles Boisen, percussionists Donald Bailey and Grady Tate, and the great vocalist Jimmy Scott.
Composer Angelo Badalamenti, who wrote the music for the television series for which this movie served as a "prequel," presents another low-key score mixing after-midnight jazz with ambient sounds, never taken at more than a medium tempo. The mood is dark and languid, appropriate to the unusual tone of the TV show and movie. Jimmy Scott and Julee Cruise contribute eerie vocals to songs with lyrics by director David Lynch. ~ William Ruhlmann

"Good Taste" is an alien concept to David Zucker, the director of such comic masterpieces as Airplane and Naked Gun. The entire idea of "taste" is foreign to Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of the post-vulgar cartoon South Park. Anyone expecting a civil comedy of manners from these three minds would be sorely mistaken. Thankfully, their collaboration BASEketball is certainly well within the crude confines of slob humor. Which means, of course, anyone expecting nuanced, subtle music on the corresponding soundtrack is a jackass. There's no Sting to be found on the BASEketball soundtrack -- only hyperactive punk-pop, ska-punk, kitschy retro-swing, faceless post-grunge and Soul Asylum.
