It may be a natural sense of restraint (otherwise known as taste) or just a pipes issue that keeps R&B siren Tamia from engaging in cliche melisma histrionics on her self-titled debut. Similarly, it may be a keen ear for perfect pop/R&B hooks or just a collective unconsciousness thing that brings her to base "Falling For You" around a sample of the Emotions' '70s classic "Best Of My Love." Regardless of the motivations behind her choices, TAMIA presents a new voice in a flattering light. It's an album full of sinuous, sexy tunes that will make fans of contemporary R&B prick up their ears.

Are you kidding me...I guess some people just think of themselves as Soul and R&B lovers but don't understand anything about that music...Tamia's first album is a masterpiece...the best she has done..and why is that? Just OK I have become a Tamia fan only recently but this particular CD left me wondering why, in fact, I bought it. There are no particularly bad songs because Tamia has such a great voice. However, there are no spectacular songs on this track either. Submitted by a reviewer (Audubon, PA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Press Play and get ready to just relax The debut album from Tamia is sooo soothing, all of the tracks have a nice feel to them. She has the perfect mixture of up-tempo,mid-tempo, and ballads, her best album in my opinion!
It's a fantastic album where each song suits her voice! Submitted by Rashad (Los Angeles, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Talented with a capital T Tamia is an all-around pleasure to hear. I have this album and More and it's sad how people only listen to artists who are rolling around in mud or showing off their body parts while artists like Tamia and Brandy's music goes unnoticed.
