| | Magic: The Very Best Of Olivia Newton-John CD (2001)
Decade Of Hits
$11.99 Recorded between 1973 and 1983. Includes liner notes by Robyn Flans.
Digitally remastered by Garvin Lurssen (The Mastering Lab, Hollywood, California).
All those nostalgia mavens and time-travelers who revel in '70s pop culture will find the ante upped a notch upon the release of MAGIC. You can listen to Carpenters tribute albums and sing Abba songs till your face turns blue, but if you really want to plunge back into the '70s experience, the greatest hits of Australian siren Olivia Newton-John are the only way to travel. Her dulcet tones float gently over some of the most carefully constructed ballads and seamlessly crafted arrangements of the decade. And even a cursory listen to "Please Mr. Please" or "Let Me Be There" will serve to remind that Olivia achieved a fair amount of country crossover back in the day as well. Sure, tracks ...

| | Michael Buble Meets Madison Square Garden CDs (2009) With DVD
Decade Of Hits
$19.69 MICHAEL BUBLE MEETS MADISON SQUARE GARDEN finds Canadian crooner Buble making a highly anticipated appearance at the storied New York City concert venue. Buble is at the very least an incredibly talented vocalist who grew from a nice kid singer in the early part of the decade to a truly swinging interpreter of the Great American Songbook canon by its end. Furthermore, he found the right modern pop/soul songs--often co-written by himself ("Lost," "Home")--which have worked to fully contemporize his likable and swaggering stage persona, all of which is readily apparent on MEETS MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. Backed here by his de rigueur big band, Buble has a joyful and abundantly devilish ...

| | Buckfast Turn CD (2006)
Decade Of Hits
$10.15 Buckfast were initially conceived in San Francisco, Ca. in 2003 by founding members, guitarist Vic Belonogoff, singer Rian Riddle and drummer Cormac Breslin. Belonogoff was a San Francisco native, with Riddle who had moved from Boise, Idaho in 1999 and Breslin from Kells in Ireland in 2001. After developing their sound, they wrote and recorded a 6-track EP (self-titled) at the famed 'Plant Studio' in Sausalito, Ca. in 2004, under the guidance of reputed engineer / producer Dave Schiffman (Audioslave, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Mars Volta, System Of A Down)That same year, the three sat down to think about their future plans and eventually decided to relocate to the vibrant music scene of Los Angeles, fearing that things had started to slow down in the bay area. The move to LA paid instant dividends as fresh inspiration from their new surroundings prompted tracks to be written for their first full-length album. With the album almost written, Buckfast completed their lineup with the addition of bassist Beau Caldwell who had moved to LA from Illinois in 2002.Buckfast began recording their debut album Turn in July 2005 at The Boat studio in Silverlake, Ca., again with Schiffman, who had helped hone the sound of the band to create a unique blend of sometimes aggressive, yet melodic and original rock. The recording sessions then moved to The Steakhouse studio followed by LAFX in North Hollywood, Ca., where the 11 track album was completed. With the imminent release of Turn, Buckfast believe they have finally captured their collective ideas of how rock music should both excite listeners but also make them think about the stories and ideas behind ...
