This limited edition of WARNING contains a 64-page booklet. It is packaged in a digipack in a green plastic bag.
To debate whether or not Green Day truly was or is a punk band in the purest definition of the punk ethic now seems irrelevant. If nothing else, they're a pop band who can't seem to help but write good songs--in the case of WARNING, some really good songs. This album makes up for any missteps the band may have taken since the fluke success of DOOKIE.
From the Katrina And The Waves groove of "Castaway" to the Beatles-esque harmonica on "Hold On," WARNING inspires a sense of musical deja vu that never crosses the line into out-and-out thievery. Hands-down, the most interesting track here is "Misery," which struts along with Doors-like quirkiness and goes through a progression of cultural movements that take instrumental turns in the form of deep strings, mariachi brass, and acoustic guitar melodies. If there's a warning to be found here, it's that Green Day has become a real band. Not very punk of them, but promising all the same.

Underrated This maybe their best album to date. And I think it is as far as songwriting. Billie Joe sounded like a man way far more mature than his age and from what people gave him credit for! This is green day at their best... forgetting about their public image and just laying out good solid songs! Every song in my opinion is very doos no weak parts on this album, it's a very catchy album one listen to and you'll be hooked!!! Enjoy!!! Submitted by cwm368 (Maryland) Was This Review Helpful? Their Overlooked Best... This is probably my favorite album of 2000. This is DEFINENTLY the best punk album i've ever heard. This blows away all of the same cookie-cutter punk songs that bands like Less Than Jake, NOFX and Bad Religion are putting out. The songs here are each handled with care and not a single one of them sounds cliche' or overdone. Green Day have turned it up on this album as far as creativity goes. They hit every tempo and every mood there is to hit with a 12 song album. I have over 750 CDs and this one is in my Top 10. I promise you won't be disappointed. If you are, just listen to the bands i listed for some more of the same crap. If you want something new, pick up Warning. Submitted by exitmat (Boynton Beach, FL) Was This Review Helpful?
