Orgy's first album was industrial-inflected synth rock of the Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson variety--a non-stop assault of pounding drums, jackhammer guitars, and buzzing synths, all heavily processed. This sophomore effort is essentially more of the same, albeit with comic book sci-fi pretensions and a dollop of old-fashioned psychedelia added to the mix.
Lyrically, what Orgy delivers is the same heartwarming mix of angst, misogyny, and pseudo-profound philosophical navel-gazing that's been the standard for adolescent outsider rock since Black Sabbath. However, here it's tricked up with contemporary references (bisexuality, digital dreams, etc). In other words, high-tech trappings notwithstanding, these guys are still dorks in the grand tradition, and God bless 'em for the wonderful work they're doing.

Spin (12/00, p.222) - 6 out of 10 - "...They can drop a hook line like the Psychedelic Furs, or just rip the Furs off...and crank out an amusingly po-faced polyrhythmic compu-grind throughout....mopery with a bounce..." Orgy Vapor Transmission Songs Vapor Transmission Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews BUY THIS...NOW! If you liked Orgy's Candyass album, then you'll love Vapor Transmission...it's 10 times better. Orgy perfected their sound on this album and the quality is also much much better, not that Candyass wasn't but this is better. The songwriting also couldn't have been much better here, it's a great sci-fi, fantasianal-type concept album.. I LOVE IT! I listen to this cd EVERY DAY.. never gets old. Although I love every single song, my favorites are Opticon, Fiction, Dramatica, and Saving Faces. The hidden track "The Spectrum" is also awesome! O.K. I LOVED ORGY's first album "Candyass", it was so awesome. When this album was released two years later, I was a little..well, disappointed. Although it's o.k. it is just that...Ok. I could listen to every single track on "Candyass" but on this C.D. I tend to skip some tracks. The best songs on this disc are: Fiction, Opticon, Eva, and Eyes Radio Lies. However, if you liked Candyass you should still pick up this C.D. ORGY's new C.D. PunkStatikParanoia is coming out on 1-27-04. Submitted by a reviewer (El Paso Tx) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Awesome Album! Orgy's material separates them from most every artist in thier genre. This album is an unusual mix of goth metal, punk & new wave that never gets old! All tracks are awesome, but the ones that really stick in my head are "Fiction," "Eva," "Optican," "The Odyssey," "107," "Re-creation," & "Spectrum" (hidden). It's been over 2 years since PunkStatik Paranioa's release, & their next album can't come fast enough! ORGY RULES!!!! Submitted by Mindy (Heath, Ohio USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Kick Ass This CD ROCKS! Every single song is catchy and rocks! Orgy really defined their own sound on this album as to Candyass where they established their own sound but were still kinda experimenting. The best songs on here are Fiction, Eva, Dramatica, Saving Faces and Where's Gerrold? Also the hidden track The Spectrum is cool. Too bad they didn't put the Vapor Transmission demo "Sonic" on this cd. It kicks ass! Submitted by dizzyanonymity (somewhereUSA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
By far Orgy's best album This album is MUCH better than "Candyass" and is by far Orgy's best release to date. On "Vapor Transmission" Orgy really discovered their sound, they stepped up the synthetics and at the same time the guitars got heavier. The production on VT is amazing, everything sounds crystal clear and the songwriting is SOLID. This is one of the most seamless concept album's I've ever heard, none of the tracks feel out of place and the hidden track is the best hidden track I've ever heard. Honestly I'm a tad disappointed with the new CD, they went back to more a "rock" sound, they definitely should have pursued the unique and futuristic sound they developed on VT.
