It's been a long, dramatic road for Meat Loaf. Since 1977's BAT OUT OF HELL he's been pouring the soul of a consummate romantic into his recordings, and bringing back the epic Casanova qualities of silent film heartthrobs to rock.
Appropriately, pop songsmith Dianne Warren is now contributing to Meat Loaf's repertoire, and the cinematic, unrestrained emotion of WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD bears witness to some of the most heartfelt pop released in 1995. The anthemic spectacles of true love--grand boy-meets-girl overtures like "45 Seconds Of Ecstasy," or lofty admissions such as "I'd Lie For You (And That's The Truth)"--are what Meat Loaf is all about. He is the Hallmark card of rock and roll, the sentimental lover--he wants you to know that he cares.
Nearly twenty years after he rolled onto the scene, Meat Loaf is still the king of rockin' romance. WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD brings him right back to your door and straight to your heart.

Q (12/95, p.133) - 3 Stars - Good - "...None of this might have much to do with rock'n'roll, but viewed as pure entertainment it's still good enough to keep plenty of people perfectly happy. And that's what it's supposed to be about, isn't it?"

My Favorite Welcome to the Neighborhood has all of my favorite Meatloaf music...the BEST---Where the Rubber Meets the Road, I'd Lie for You...etc. Submitted by janllo (Chicago, IL USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo
Meat Loaf goes it alone , excellent ! First of all , I must say that Meat Loaf is
a very prominent rock singer with an amazing
voice to go with great lyrics from various
people. "Welcome To The Neighborhood" was one
of Meatloafs "without Steinmans Help" record.
Although it didn't see results anywhere near
the Bat Out Of Hell saga , it was an amazing
record. Meat Loafs voice sounds really good ,
Diane Warren , the Sarah Durkee & Paul Jacobs
duo , and Sammy Hagar provide Meat Loaf with
great lyrics (With a couple of Steinman & Tom
Waits tracks) , and the band "The Neverland
Express" which consists of Mark Alexander ,
Patti Russo , and John Miceli back Meat Loaf
up. Meat Loaf and the assembly provide an overall biographical CD , about a mans life
from his first date (Where The Rubber Meets
The Road) , to a wild ride in Mexico (Runnin
For The Red Light) , and ends at the mans
last years of life (Where Angels Sing). The
big spotlight of the album however is the
2nd track "Id Lie For You And Thats The Truth" , which was 13# in America for several
weeks. Very clever statement by Meat Loaf
and producer Ron Nevison. Submitted by a reviewer (Kingston , Ontario , Canada) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo This review is for a different format.
