No matter how good the studio sessions were, B.B. King was at his best on stage in front of an appreciative, if not ecstatic crowd. This set, recorded at Chicago's premier black theater on Novermber 21, 1964, delivered just that. Despite the less than perfect recording conditions, at a time when technology had yet to catch up with the demands placed upon it, the King of the Blues delivers a definitive performance on a programm that includes his recent single "Help The Poor." Also included in this set is a clutch of songs that were responsible for much of his success, "Everyday I Have The Blues," "Sweet Little Angel," "It's My Own Fault," "You Upset Me Baby" and "Woke Up This Morning" among them. The band, including tenorman Johnny Board and organist Duke Jethro, is lean but tight, providing King with a springboard from which to leap into flights of immaculate guitar playing and singing.
Reissue producer: Andy McKaie.
Personnel: B.B. King (vocals, guitar); Kenny Sands (trumpet); Johnny Board, Bobby Forte (tenor saxophone); Duke Jethro (piano); Leo Lauchie (bass); Sonny Freeman (drums).
Producer: Johnny Pate.

Live At The Regal album
$11.25 Principally recorded at the Record Plant, New York, New York in April and May 1968.
On ELECTRIC LADYLAND Jimi Hendrix stretched and experimented in the studio, going beyond the power-trio format on what would be his last studio album with the Experience. ELECTRIC LADYLAND was revolutionary in its scope and execution. Using New York City's Record Plant as a gateway to free expression, Hendrix traversed an abstract landscape containing compositions as weird and wonderful as "...And The Gods Made Love" and "1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be)."
Simultaneously looking forwards and backwards, Hendrix mixed in a song reminiscent of his time on the chitlin' ...
| | Jimi Hendrix Axis: Bold As Love CD (1967)
Live At The Regal CD music
$11.65 There are still plenty of powerful blues/rock-inflected songs, such as the menacing "If 6 Was 9," the rolling "Spanish Castle Magic" and the spatial title tune. But "Up From The Skies" is a jazzy trio romp, featuring Hendrix's bluesy, vocalized wah-wah pedal. And on the ballads "Little Wing" and "Castles Made Of Sand," Hendrix shifts the focus from the band to the silvery chord/melody accompaniments he often employed to complement his vocals. They are an orchestral effect unto themselves.
Originally released on Reprise.

| | Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced? CD (1967)
Live At The Regal music CDs
$11.19 This 1997 reissue of ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? is a remastered version that restores the original LP's track order and album artwork. ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? was previously reissued in 1993 (MCA 10893) with new cover art and a new 17-track running order that included all the songs on either the U.S. or U.K. versions of the original LP. That version is now out of print, and has been replaced by this one, on the Experience Hendrix label, which features remastered versions of the same 17 songs, this time in the order they appeared on the original American LP, with the extra tracks added to the end (a separate version was simultaneously released in the U.K., featuring the same songs but in the original British track order). The Experience Hendrix label is controlled by Hendrix's family.
The 1997 reissue also adds a 24-page booklet with previously-unpublished photos, the original LP liner notes and song lyrics.
Recorded in late 1966 and early 1967 at Olympic Studios, London, England.
Jimi Hendrix's debut recording was an instant classic, and is as startling today as when it first hit the streets in 1967. ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? is probably the most rock-oriented of Hendrix's official studio releases, but its influences are incredibly diverse. "Third ...

Live At The Regal songs
$8.55 Digitally remastered by Erick Labson at MCA Music Media Studios, North Hollywood, California.
B.B. King has long been known as a road warrior who regularly plays over 300 dates a year. One of his most noted and unusual gigs, LIVE AT COOK COUNTY JAIL, occurred on September 10, 1970. Performing before 2,117 inmates with minimum security, King took his "captive audience" through a set peppered with staples of his impressive canon. Backed by a punchy horn section and peppering the set with his trademark quick licks, King immediately won over the audience. Of course, one of the most enduring facets of a live B.B. King show is the neighborly relationship he quickly establishes with whoever might make up his audience. ...

Live At The Regal album
$6.39 Digitally remastered by Suha Ger (Universal Music Group Studios).
In the early '80s, many of the top metal acts of the past had either disbanded or soldiered on despite the loss of founding members. Deep Purple had officially disbanded in 1976, with only two original members present in the final lineup, but by 1984, the classic lineup of vocalist Ian Gillan, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, bassist Roger Glover, drummer Ian Paice, and keyboardist Jon Lord had reunited. Responsible for such classics as MACHINE HEAD and MADE IN JAPAN, the group was considered amongst metal's elite, and judging from its first comeback album, 1984's PERFECT STRANGERS, DEEP PURPLE hadn't lost its magic touch in ...
