A friend of mine kept raving about this CD until I finally bought it. Almost all Hendrix albums have the same songs on them.

Jimi Hendrix Experience: BBC Sessions album for sale unlike some of the reviews above, this cd is not to be compared to hendrix's studio recordings - as this cd takes on a different reign: his live performances there are many concert cd's and dvd's out there which are also great, but none capture the funny, messy and absolute genius fornication of sounds hendrix created behind the scenes this cd captures being in the little practice booth joking around with the legend, abstract conversations where he interprets his songs' message, and also (longly-awaited by many) the longest and most random jams that really marked him as a guitar hero for many; all of which are remarkably new and welcome by fans who could not be there nor could attain this from his studio recordings i give this cd 5* because of many factors: -the sound quality is unquestionable -the diversity and range of songs -the inclusion of random sound bytes -detailed and highly interesting booklet explaining the recordings -the decision to include self-harming songs by the producer (lulu... ) -finally, this release fully rounds the experience, together with the studio recordings and concert dvd's.

||Story Behind the LuLU Incident|
The story goes that Jimi was supposed to appear on LuLu's program. He was supposed do "Hey Joe", She'd be waiting in the Wings to join him to sing... JimI knew this, and he wasn't about to let some women steal his thunder.

For hardcore hendrix fans, not so much for the person who only listens to his top 3 or 4 hits... great jams, although they could be longer, this album really captures hendrix's style as a musician, unlike some studio recordings.
