(3 Customer Reviews)
Recorded live between 1975 & 1977. Includes liner notes by Steve Silberman.
Digitally remastered by Erick Labson (1999, MCA Music Media Studios).
This is an expanded version of the original 1977 album. Two excellent Crosby songs are added, namely "Bittersweet," (originally on WIND ON THE WATER) and the previously unreleased "King of the Mountain," a meditation on celebrity that elicits an impressive atonal introduction from keyboard player Craig Doerge.
The players here are all veterans of Crosby and Nash's studio albums, and the music has a distinctly jazz feel. Anyone chancing upon the intro to LIVE's version of "Deja Vu" might well imagine they were listening to Weather Report or the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Meanwhile, Crosby and Nash's harmonies are as impeccable as ever (amazingly so, given Crosby's well-publicized drug proclivities at the time), and the album rocks far more than you might expect, with both Danny Kortchmar and David Lindley contributing surprisingly aggressive solos.

David Crosby Crosby-Nash: Live Songs Crosby-Nash: Live Music Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) "Nasby & Crosh" whoops I bought the studio albums that were released prior to this Live album thinking they should be really good because I really dug this album in '77, boy was I fooled. I love this band, but they only really shined "live". Russ Kunkel never sounded better & Kootch & Lindley too for that matter. Great band. I sold "Whistling Down the Wire" & bought this instead. I must say, I've never bought a new CD for under $6 before, thanks again CD Universe. Submitted by billkey (Rogers, AR USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
NOT THEIR BEST! I think i have to disagree with the other reviewer on this page. I am a very big fan of Crosby and Nash but this livealbum is not one of their best. The only song that sounds better than an original version is " Bittersweet" which is really good here, and maybe the version of "Lee shore" and " Deja vu" has something to offer but the rest is just ok compared to their standard. Buy " Wind on the Water" or " The best if Crosby and Nash- The abc years" instead. Submitted by marrakesh100 (Halmstad, Sweden) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
