The endless sideshows engendered by the fact that Sinead O'Connor was apparently born without the internal censor that keeps the rest of us from social embarrassment have done far too much to obscure the essential truth about this singer/songwriter: she's genuinely talented, and her best work cannot be ignored. This 15 track compilation collects all of the singles from her first four albums, adding several non-LP tracks like "Heroine," a collaboration with The Edge and Eno-associate Michael Brook from the soundtrack of the otherwise forgotten 1986 film CAPTIVE. From her outstanding debut, O'Connor went from strength to strength for a number of years, and this set includes essential tracks like the hard-rocking "Mandinka" and "The Emperor's New Clothes" to the still-startling confessional sound of "Nothing Compares 2 U" and "I Am Stretched On Your Grave." This set also gathers the high points from the spotty but often worthwhile albums O'Connor recorded after her self-imposed retreat from the spotlight, making it a solid one-stop for the casual fan.Entertainment Weekly (12/12/97, p.90) - "...If some her early work now feels shrill and strident, her later experiments with hip-hop beats and Bomb the Bass (included here) make her seem visionary. It's common for pop stars to boast of growing up in public, but O'Connor's actually done it." - Rating: A- So Far...The Best Of Music Sinead O'Connor So Far...The Best Of Songs So Far...The Best Of Music So Far...The Best Of Music Review Buy So Far...The Best Of CD Purchase So Far...The Best Of CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best Of George Michael CDs (1998)

| | Phil Collins Hits CD (1998)
So Far...The Best Of
$11.19 East, Leland Sklar, Cornelius Mims, John Giblin, Freddie Washington (bass); Sheila E.(percussion); Peter Gabriel, Sting, Marva King (background vocals).
In the early '80s, Collins took a break from the helm of Genesis to inaugurate a solo career that abandoned his group's art-rock agenda for a mainstream pop approach. In the ensuing years, the king of Nice Guy Pop established himself as one of the world's premier top 40 balladeers, as evidenced by the wall-to-wall hits that make up the balance of this appropriately titled collection. HITS walks the listener through the smooth, well-produced Collins hits that have worked their way into the collective consciousness of radio listeners (even casual ones) over the years. There are majestic power ballads ("I Wish It Would Rain") to light-hearted, infectious pop-funk ("Sussudio") and moody atmospheric pieces ("In the Air Tonight") HITS represents the full range of material ...
| | Loreena McKennitt Book Of Secrets CD (1997)
So Far...The Best Of
$14.79 1997 release shows the new age vocalist keeping in the same vein, mixing Celtic, Spanish, Italian & new age to create her own distinct sound. Eight tracks including the favorite 'The Mummers Dance'. Quinlan Road.
Loreena McKennitt began her career as a New Age pop chanteuse, steeped in Celtic folk mysticism and possessed of an airy, ethereal voice. Over the course of her career she has dabbled to varying extremes in the pop format, but she remains true to the spirit of the traditional balladeer on THE BOOK OF SECRETS. With the aid of top-flight musicians like Danny Thompson and David Rhodes, she weaves a web of fanciful, wispy folk-rock that's not afraid to be beautiful as it pulls ...
| | Madonna Ray Of Light CD (1998)
So Far...The Best Of
$6.09 RAY OF LIGHT won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Pop Album and for Best Recording Package, and was nominated for Album Of The Year. "Ray Of Light" won the 1999 Grammy for Best Dance Recording and Best Short Form Music Video, and was nominated for Record Of The Year.
Relentlessly contemporary, RAY OF LIGHT pairs Madonna with producer William Orbit, an electronics wizard who has worked with major R&B acts and even such modern rockers as Blur and Depeche Mode. Reportedly, Madonna tried to snare Liam Howlett of high-strung techno-rockers the Prodigy into the project--Howlett claims to have turned her down. But the more dextrous, less in-your-face Orbit was probably a better choice anyway. He provides a dizzying array of soundscapes, incorporating everything from psychedelic-rock guitar to dub-reggae echo and cold, cutting techno beats for what critics are calling Madonna's most committed performance in years.

$14.69 Horror author Anne Rice penned the screenplay for this full-blooded adaptation of her novel, which chronicles the life of 18th-century nobleman Louis (Brad Pitt) after he is bitten by powerful, charismatic vampire Lestat (Tom Cruise). To comfort Louis, Lestat creates another vampire (Kirsten Dunst in a star-making peformance), a young girl who from then on cannot age. Antonio Banderas appears as Armand, a 400-year-old vampire, and Christian Slater plays the radio producer who interviews the remorseful Louis.
