ROAD TESTED was nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. "Burning Down The House" was nominated for a 1997 Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.
ROAD TESTED is the first live album of Bonnie Raitt's storied career, and the two-disc set easily gets across the magic she makes at her concerts. Recorded in 1995, at six shows in Portland, Oregon and Oakland, California, Raitt digs deep into her catalog for clever interpretations of blues, soul and even classic new wave songs that have shaped her musical vocabulary. Constantly paying homage to her musical roots, Raitt brings on such idols as Charles and Ruth Brown, as well as contemporary VH-1 co-horts like Bruce Hornsby, Bryan Adams and Jackson Browne, to add to the fireworks. And even though the cameos of these formidable talents add up to some delightful thrills, Raitt's pure singing, biting slide guitar and crack back-up band are the main reasons why she passes this road test with flying colors.
Recorded live at the Schnitzer Auditorium, Portland, Oregon on July 11-13, 1995 and the Paramount Theatre, Oakland, California on July 16-19, 1995.

Her very best I have owned this live cd for about 5 years. It is by far her best workas well as an incredibly well recorded cd
Listening to Angel in Montgomery and Louise still gives me goose bumps, her voice is incredible. On burning down the house if you have the ability to crank you system up LOUD you will be amazed at the acoustics. Submitted by garrcon (Iowa City, Iowa) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo

Bonnie Raitt's great moment of her life This live set is living proof of Bonnie Raitt's versatility as a performer, singing and playing her way through a varied repertoire covering most of her career up to this point. Though I admire her slide guitar playing a lot, I think her vocal prowess is the one factor, that keeps you coming back for more in the end. She sings effortlessly on a string of ballads especially, with "I Can't Make You Love Me" as the stand out cut, on which she is supported by Bruce Hornsby on piano. The sound - DTS 5.1 surround sound - is a great improvement on the original CD release.
Note: The song set is identical with the DVD release, the only big difference being the DTS surround mix included on this album. Submitted by sm.and (Hvidovre, Denmark) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo This review is for a different format.
