| | Tibetan Freedom Concert CD
The three-disc TIBETAN FREEDOM CONCERT commemorates the series of all-star benefit performances. Disc 1 contains one song from every artist who performed at the June 7, 1997 concert at Randall's Island, New York, New York. Disc 2 does the same for the June 8, 1997 show at the same venue. The third disc is an Enhanced-CD, containing a full audio program recorded during the first Tibetan Freedom Concert in San Francisco as well as multimedia computer files. Also included are footage from the show, interviews conducted by Sean Lennon, photos, soundbites and information on Milarepa, Adam Yauch's non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of compassion and non-violence. All proceeds and artist royalties from the CD will be donated to the organization.
Recorded live at Randalls Island, New York, New York on June 7 & 8, 1997 and Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California on June 15 & 16, 1996. Includes liner notes by Adam Yauch and The Dalai Lama.
Over two days in New York during the summer of 1997, The TIBETAN FREEDOM CONCERT put the message of human rights where it could do the most good--in the minds of today's youth culture. Containing one song by each of the pop stars who donated their time, TIBETAN FREEDOM CONCERT features live performances by a staggering collection of musical personalities. Sonic Youth and Pavement contribute edgy alt-rock tracks, while the hip-hop nation is represented by such luminaries as Biz Markee, KRS-1, and A Tribe Called Quest.
Pop deities Michael Stipe, Patti Smith, Alanis Morissette, and Bjork give standout performances, while Blur, Radiohead and Oasis's Noel Gallagher (playing solo on "Cast No Shadow") make up the Britpop contingent. Opening and closing the day's proceedings, the Tibetan Monks and nuns contribute prayers, whose haunting, plaintive sound serves to remind the listener of the concert's very serious, very urgent purpose. A third, enhanced CD contains tapes of an earlier TIBETAN FREEDOM CONCERT in San Francisco and features interviews, sound bites and other multimedia elements as well as tracks by Cibo Matto, Beck, and The Fugees.
Engineers: John Harris, Kooster McCallister.
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.Rolling Stone (11/27/97, pp.105-106) - 4 Stars (out of 5) - "...Charitable premise aside, there is much that is worth your time and money on TIBETAN FREEDOM CONCERT....if you like to get something for your charity, this set is a good deal..." Entertainment Weekly (10/31/97, pp.102-103) - "...Slump-shouldered '90s rock...that adequately encapsulates the unvarnished, lo-fi sensibility of its time. Token nods to rap and blues..." - Rating: B Vibe (12/97-1/98, p.184) - "...chronicles the weekend-long music festival staged to raise awareness of the Himalayan country's nonviolent struggle against Chinese oppression..." Tibetan Freedom Concert
$11.18 CHRISTMAS ON MARS might be the Flaming Lips' bona fide sci-fi epic, but EMBRYONIC is the musical equivalent of the final scenes of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY: transformative chaos that results in a new start. From THE SOFT BULLETIN onward, the Lips seemed focused on tidying the loose ends of their earlier work, almost to the point of constraining themselves. Their wilder side is unleashed on Embryonic's 18 tracks, and the band sounds more off-the-cuff than it has in years -- some tracks are barely longer than snippets, others are rangy epics, and it all holds together so organically that listeners might wonder just how ...

Tibetan Freedom Concert
$11.39 Tim Davis is a talented singer, songwriter, and producer whose passion is to fulfill the destiny and plan that God has for his life. "Many of us go to the grave with our music inside of us; God forbid that from happening to me".A native of Kinston, NC, Tim always had a love for music growing up. He followed his brothers and sisters to band camp before he could even hold an instrument. He wrote his first songs with his brothers and sisters with the keyboard his mother bought him for Christmas at age 9. He's been writing and arranging songs ever since. His band director Ernest Fleming was very instrumental early on, helping him form his own go-go band, DC Express, in the 7th grade. He played trumpet, xylophone and keyboard throughout his band career and even learned a few songs from Maceo Parker when he would pop in on the choir or jazz band at Kinston High. But, it was Wynona E. Daves, choir director and long time family friend that helped him realize his vocal potential. It was during his first choral solo performance that he realized that this is what he wanted to do with his life. He went on to Norfolk State University where he received a Bachelor of Music degree with emphasis in media. While in Norfolk, Va. he sang and performed with many secular bands and singing groups such as Image, Intrigue and DC Bad Boyz and even opened up as a solo act for the likes of Method Man, Jeru the Damaja, and Zhane, one of the hottest female duos in the early nineties. After graduating from Norfolk State University his plan was to head to Atlanta and make it big as an R&B recording artist, but God had a different plan in mind. While at home preparing for the big move, his best friend Michael invited him to a church that led him to Christ just six months before. Tim accepted the invitation, and what started out as a two-week transition from N.C to Atlanta, turned out to be an eight year training session. He too gave his life to Christ and is still a proud member of Victory and Dominion World Outreach Center in Snow Hill, NC where Bishop Zebedee Sheppard, is ...

| | Terry Ray Thomas Still Finding My Way CD (2007)
Tibetan Freedom Concert
$11.39 The first CD by Terry Ray Thomas titled “Still Finding My Way” consists of 12 original songs written by Terry Ray Thomas. This is modern country with an old school feel and just a touch of bluegrass. The musicianship and quality of this project is top notch. I owe a great deal of gratitude to Jeannine O'Neal who produced the CD and played a multitude of instruments on it. Jeannine is a true musician and has worked with a very impressive list of performers. Along with her husband Gradie O'Neal they create a relaxing environment to work and a professional team comparable to any studio. The awe-inspiring Scott Joss does the fiddle work. Aside from winning the California State Men's Fiddle contest three consecutive years, and working with Dwight Yoakam for fifteen years; Scott's first major gig was with Merle Haggard and the Strangers at Carnegie Hall. Is there a word more powerful than amazing for Scott's talents? Steel guitar fans will be pleased to know that Bobby Black handles all of the steel and Dobro work. Bobby's resume includes the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame, playing the Grand Ole Opry numerous times at both Opryland and the Ryman Auditorium; and for several years a member of Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen. His work on “Still ...
