Odds and ends from Syd's all too short career.
Opel is a disc filled with outakes, alternate cuts and unreleased material from Syd Barrett. Some of these tracks are accoustic outakes whilst others are
instrumentals or different versions of the same song (Syd was always changes chords and/or lyrics).
Many of the songs were never finished because Syd would either freeze up, never show or just quit in the middle of recording. His fragile psyche couldn't take to much. These outakes and odd pieces are so interesting because they're so different than the final product.
A nice look at Syd's all too brief recording career.
Highly recommended.

A REAL MIXED BAG
This album (as with all rarities compilations) feels like it's scraping the barrel a bit too hard at times but it does uncover some real gems. 'Clowns And Jugglers' is better than the song it eventually became ('Octopus'), and 'Silas Lang' is seriously great.
