Simply the greatest then and still the greatest
Regardless of the rest of the album, I would buy this CD just for the intro passage to the extended solo on Machine Gun alone. This is a lofty claim I know, but in my opinion, the first 6 or 8 bars of that solo is the single greatest piece of rock guitar ever committed to record - and totally sums up Hendrix the musician! Who else could play one note for that length of time and make it so gut-wrenchingly evocative? Oh, and by the way way, in spite of the fact that as far as I recall, Band of Gypsys was a bit of a throwaway in Hendrix's mind (I thought to satisfy his contract with his record company at the time), the rest of the CD is mindblowing as well - buy it just for the privilege of hearing the greatest rock guitarist of our lifetime at work.

"Mercy Sakes" then I saw of him playing it on DVD
Hendrix fans... Jimi dropped another one on us before he left.
It was called "Band Of Gypsys"
If you have never heard this album...
it will totally blow you away.
This was a "live" album.
With Buddy Miles on drums; and Billy Cox on bass; yet another masterful
piece of music; and the reason people still praise Jimi Hendrix today...
39 years after his death .
I am still trying to figure out how did he create all that sound without
today's equipment; and only 2 musicians on stage with him.
Buy both the CD and the DVD "Live at the Filmore East" 1970 and see Jimi, Buddy, and Billy play this unbelieveable concert. New Years Eve 1970. WORD !!!
