A Must for a Classic Rock Collection
This CD contains almost all their great songs throughout the group's career. My son is a budding drummer who likes all the classic rock groups as well as R&B and Jazz. He is constantly listening to this CD on his Ipod. Well worth the purchase.

Grand Funk's Greatest Collection
This collection will make a Grand Funk Fan out of anyone. This is the greatest compilation of GFR that is available. Of the course there are the traditional GFR hits like "Footstompin Music" "Loco-Motion" "Bad Time to Be in Love", etc. that really bring back the often forgotten 70's rock-n-roll jam, but there are also some rare cuts that don't receive the radio play that they well should have that deserve a listening to that are on this collection. My personal favoite is the cover of Traffic's (Dave Mason's)" Feelin Alright" Really great cover that is well worth a listen.

THIS IS A BOX SET !
This is how all box sets should be put together. First the booklet with notes puts everything into perspective.Great history of the band, song info, album info, and great pics. The songs:the hits are all here along with some outstanding album tracks.Next we have some killer previously un-released material. The power trio days has mostly live tracks that are being released for the first time and everything from phoenix on has some smokin' previously un-released tracks. What makes this set smoke is the fact that we get 3 tracks from THE PACK before GRAND FUNK and 3 brand new songs recorded for this anthology. In my opinion the perfect package.

Serious Hiss
Great collection of songs, but I have a hard time recommending this collection to anyone with audiophile tastes, the obvious lack of attention to detail and what appears to be a rush to get to market with recordings that are multiple generations removed from the masters. Only a fraction of the songs seem to be from quality transfers. The tape hiss on the majority of the discs is distracting and annoying. If the recording engineers revisited this collection with a love for the music and less corporate zeal to turn a profit, as seems to be the American way now days. Having said all that, this might be the easiest way to get this collection of songs in a practical manner.

Superb set from an underrated band
GFR were the first American band to score 10 consecutive platinum records, and maybe the first to truly reinvent themselves and have a "second" career with a very different sound. This set does a great job of cataloging that career from 1969-1976 and through two reunions. The guy who complains about tape hiss is ill-informed. First, it's not a big deal and second, it's part of the source tapes and quashing the hiss would mean losing a lot of audible headroom. It's the difference in technology, and nothing more can be done about it without detrimentally affecting the music. Get this set while you can. It is officially out of print.
