Crash Test Dummies was nominated for Best New Artist, "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" was nominated for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal, and GOD SHUFFLED HIS FEET was nominated for Best Alternative Music Performance in the 37th Annual Grammy Awards.
Thanks to Jerry Harrison's remarkably clear and focused production, Crash Test Dummies' second album became a surprise hit. Apart from the relatively concise pop smarts of the singles "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" and "Afternoons and Coffeespoons," God Shuffled His Feet isn't all that different from the band's first album. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Recorded at Music Head Recording, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; DV Productions, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mindscape, Chicago, Illinois.
Producers: Jerry Harrison, Crash Test Dummies.
Crash Test Dummies: Brad Roberts (vocals, guitar, piano); Benjamin Darvill (mandolin, harmonica); Ellen Reid (piano, keyboards, accordion, background vocals); Dan Roberts (bass guitar, synth-bass); Michel Dorge (drums, percussion).
Additional personnel: Adrian Belew (guitar); Larry Beers (drums); Kerry Nation (background vocals).
Entertainment Weekly (11/19/93, p.92) - "...[Crash Test Dummies] sport a winsome, often pastoral, folk-pop that's oddly juxtaposed with Brad Robert's baritone vocals...the Dummies may prove to be too darn nice for American audiences and their band's own name..." - Rating: B-
Marvellous An unique and unusual sound, relevant lyrics
containing brillant insight into todays culture. Roberts is a modern Bard. He portrays a leadership feel to his music, having a strong, clear and knightly male power in song - which is frequently lacking in our modern culture. Recommend this
to any person who is looking real soul.

surprising favorite I found this CD among my brother's extra music and listened to it to see if i wanted to keep it. One listening was enough to make it a favorite. Brad Roberts' baritone voice gives their music a unique sound and the songs are catchy with quirky lyrics--i couldn't help but like it.
