Summer is the season when the rest of America gets to experience the easy vibe that folks from L.A. call their own year round. Singer Adriana Evans, producer Dred Scott and arranger/woodwind player Rastine Calhoun III have assembled an album of tunes that groove like a sunny L.A. afternoon. Despite the subtle presence of some light hip-hop grooves and programming, Evans' debut relies more on live performances and '70s soul orchestrations, including horns, strings, orchestra bells, vibes, and even an oboe solo ("Lookin' For Your Love"). With a sweet and soulful voice, Adriana delivers the message that a world looked at with love can be an inspiring place.

JazzTimes (9/97, p.65) - "...a breezy, buoyant trip that revisits...the sounds of soul's not so distant past. Evan's attention to phrasing and timing separates her from the run of the mill hip-hop soulster....a well thought-out first effort for this rising vocal star." The Source (4/97, p.106) - "...a genuine vocalist with beautiful range....she even writes all of her own material..."

Where IS SHE?! Far and away one of the best RnB albums in recent memory but WHERE DID SHE GO?! What is up with record execs to let such an incredible talent go to waste!!? Yo, if anyone is reading this review BUY THIS CD AT ONCE! Trust me. I was sprung the first time I heard 'Seeing is believing' back in 1997. Thats a delicious song. :D Submitted by williest1 (Austin, TX) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
excellent!!! She deserves better recognition. It's a shame that to the general public, she's virtually unknown. I must also give credit to the band backing her up, they're a major factor of her CD debut. Submitted by adler (Kissimmee, FL) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Wonderfull This is probably the freshest album by a female RnB artist for a decade..This cd is a must and gets regular playtime in this joint. To pick a standout track is impoosible they are all stunners.Yet as so often happens the music industry yet again crush raw talent in favour of throw away trash..Where is she now..Someone find her and lets get another album sorted out..Five Stars !!!
