Fabulous History, Decent Rockin'
Pretty much a stream-of-consciousness tape of an afternoon jam/rehearsal session with Presley, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis (Johnny Cash, advertised as present, does not contribute audibly), with others piping in periodically. Not a music album in any sense, it's a mix of conversations, false starts, and war-stories-from-the-road, punctuated by occasional songs or half songs. With Presley leading the discussions, it turns out these guys are intelligent, funny, interested and interesting. They share a deep admiration for Chuck Berry. And when they do get down to some music, it's loose and it rocks. Their four tries at Berry's "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" alone are worth the budget price of the CD.

The greatest thing I've ever heard
I love Elvis and all of his music but Jerry Lee , Elvis and Carl Perkins togeather is something more than words can say . There music and talents were a gift from God and to have a chance to hear what they could do when they put those talents togeather is something everyone should do.

Elvis Jams
I found this music as a remainedered audio cassette in KMart about 6 years ago. Bought it just for a long drive. It absolutely amazed me. It seems to be a really authentic jam session with contemporaries of Elvis--Carl Perkins, and others, even perhaps, briefly, Johnny Cash. They work through many gospel numbers very informally. You can hear Elvis asking about the key to be played. A highlight is Elvis's description and imitation of a singer in Las Vegas who was singing his version of Don't Be Cruel. Whoever the sound engineer was just lets the audio roll and there are delightful insights which show Elvis in a relaxed and natural mode. Those interested in how the artist works will be fascinated and will enjoy the good music. It seems to me that the price for this CD is too high, however.
