| | Charlie Parker Bebop & Bird, Volume 2 CD Charlie Parker Discography of CDs
Rhino's BEBOP AND BIRD VOLUME ONE was a fine compilation, but its successor volume is possibly even better. Its 16 tracks, recorded in the mid-'40s with a variety of lineups, including several Charlie Parker standards, including three very different ... Full Descriptiontakes of his composition "Cool Blues," the track generally credited with starting the cool jazz movement later led by Parker's former trumpeter--who doesn't appear on this set--Miles Davis. Another proponent of cool jazz was pianist Errol Garner, whose relaxed, impressionistic runs on several of these tracks, including both takes of "Relaxin' at Camarillo," sound like they heavily influenced the more cerebral solos of later pianists like Lennie Tristano and Bill Evans. As always with Rhino reissues, the sound quality is positively superb, and the packaging and annotations are excellent.

$10.15 Pay your dues, put in your heart and soul, and you’re gonna get good at it. Well, JAVELINAS RAGE at ROCK AND ROLL. With a 20yr history of making many records, record deals, touring regionally and nationally, starting their own record label, radioplay, and supporting some of rock and rolls icons, the four members of Javelinas within the last 3yrs have created one of the most formidable rock/Americana bands to hit the pavement…Once upon a time, in the early 2000's there was a 5pc Chicago rock/alt-country/hillbilly-swag band called the Flat Mean Tires. They had an interesting 2 year run before a firey implosion took effect. During that time, they supported acts such as Bobby Bare Jr., The Blasters, Front of Truck, John Langford and could be regularly caught at Chicago's Hideout, Beat Kitchen and House of Blues. After the mind-numbing implosion, two of the Flat Mean Tires found themselves crawling from the rubble, a bit scarred but still hungry for the power of rock music. Detroit native, singer/songwriter Chris McInnis & Singer/songwriter/rock guitarist Mark Grzelak along with the concrete-solid addition of midwestern rocker Dan Postlewait on the bass guitar and the Chitown via Boston route Chris Glynn on the drums, the group reformed under the moniker JAVELINAS in 2003. In the short year since the release of our debut disc, “Dirtbath” they've been blowing the doors off of the “up and coming” tag and have become quite a force growing steadily in the Midwest. Along with supporting the legendary Dick Dale on his two stops in Chicago in and playing opening game of the World Series in ’05, they’ve done some great festivals in Chicago & Midwest thru 2006, as well as rocking the legendary CBGB's in NYC just before it closed, played a VIP party for Rascal Flatts 2006 Chgo tour, Windy City Motorcycle Fest, Chgo '06, Wicker Park Fest, Chgo '06, Guinness Oyster Fest, the Midwest Music conference in Indianapolis, MEANY Fest NYC, and are continuing their club tour throughout our second record right into the festival season. (release date spring 2007)The SOUND: Well, take about 30% of the Americana-isms Chris McGinnis and blend them with some old-school rock in the vein of the Kinks, Iggy pop, Tom waits, Amboy Dukes, throw ...

Bebop & Bird, Volume 2 songs
$16.49 Brianna Carpenter is a solo singer/songwriter who creates honest music through her unique vocal quality, flowing guitar accompaniment and intricate piano experimentation. She pretty much starting singing when she started talking and even though she was born completely deaf in one ear this has not stopped her drive to compose. Brianna began song writing at the age of 13 and knew she was destined for great things. Her first turning point was performing a "Silent Night" solo at the end of year production in grade one. It was soon apparent there she was different from the other children.Brianna loves a sense of humour and tries to incorporate this into her music wherever possible. She brings life into the room when she begins to play, she strives to captivate her audiences in a way that makes it almost impossible for them to leave. She speaks with them, tells them her stories, her travels, her most intimate experiences - the show is intimate, almost like a conversation. She is not from an overly musical background but believes her creative flair has come from her Mother, who is a exquisite ...
