| | Wizard Of Oz Soundtrack CD (2 Customer Reviews)
Though not technically a Judy Garland album, this set will please any Garland fan and is an absolute must for any devotee of THE WIZARD OF OZ. With its two discs and 82 tracks, extended versions, partial takes, rehearsal demos, outtakes, and unused versions, this DELUXE EDITION of THE WIZARD OF OZ is the definitive representation of the work put into Harold Arlen's rightfully heralded soundtrack to MGM's classic 1939 film.
Naturally, the songs that have impressed themselves indelibly in the cultural imagination are included: "Over the Rainbow," "Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead," and "If I Only Had a Brain," just to name a few. But the wealth of alternate material is what puts this set several notches above, not to mention the highly informative, beautifully assembled 52-page booklet that's included. Collectors will fall all over themselves with this unique set, but casual fans should enjoy this delightfully exhaustive package as well.

| Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) classic mono sound This soundtrack has it all DEMOS AND OUTTAKES. There are no pauses between the tracks. It almost sounds like you are sitting in a room with the movie cut to a karaoke mix. The extended parts added back to the score seem to be fluid and the joins are unnoticeable. The best part is the mono mix. The worst part is that because of all the additional things added the story goes over 2 CDs and you have to go change the disk to get the last part of the story. Hmmmh!
US COUCH POTATOES DON'T ENJOY DOING THAT. Submitted by wynne (Stockton, Australia) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Wizard of Oz Sountrack - A Real Gem! The music in the Wizard of Oz has always been one of my favorite soundtracks. I was intruiged with the music, even as a child. In fact, I think I enjoy the score more than the songs!
This is truly a masterful presentation of a film score, which, by itself, is a thrilling "kaleidoscope of sound". And, yet, made even more pleasurable when reminiscing over the heart-warming, awe-inspiring moments of the film, as you listen.
