Recorded live at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreux, Switzerland in July 1994. Includes liner notes by Barbara Hendricks, Claude Nobs and Gerald Arnaud.
Angel's Tribute To Duke Ellington features loving interpretations of the jazz master's works from artists like Earl Hines, Cecil Taylor and Sir Roland Hanna. Randy Weston begins the album with a dedication to Ellington, then Hanna performs "Take The 'A' Train" and "I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good)." Jay McShann's "Satin Doll," Hines' "In My Solitude" and Taylor's "After All" add to this collection's worthiness. ~ Heather Phares
