Harry Lubin is nobody's idea of a musical household name, but in 1958 he became the musical director and composer of Alcoa Presents and composed and conducted all the music for their science fiction TV show, One Step Beyond. While the show is not generally remembered for having a strong theme or background music, this 11-track reissue shows otherwise, as Lubin puts a full symphony orchestra through their paces on pieces like "Island Off Spain," "Bullfight," "Weird," "Trip to the Far East" and the show's theme song, "Fear." File under "incredibly strange music" because that was the whole point of its existence in the first place. ~ Cub Koda original Decca album from the original TV series from 1960 contains sci-fi music that alternates between scary & beautiful, inc.
