Schumann: Fantasy; Liszt: Transcendental Etudes CD

 Magnificent Performance
Kissin's performance of the Schumann Fantasy and Liszt Transcendental Etudes is truly outstanding. His maturity in interpretation is evident in the Schumann Fantasy and his dynamism shines through in the Liszt. Kissin clearly shows why he is the top young pianist of his day.

 Lisztian Echo
According to contemporary accounts from the 1800's, Liszt's playing left audiences dazzled with disbelief that the piano could sound as he made it do. This CD provides a similar experience. There are recordings of the Transcendentals and then there is this: with unparalleled speed, bravura and accuracy such as I have never heard before. It leaves one wondering whether it hasn't been digitally fiddled. If not, Kissin's playing is mind-blowing and he really ought to record all 12 Etudes.
