Trans-Siberian Orchestra's second album, Christmas Attic, may not be as focused or serious as Christmas Eve, but it is just as enjoyable and maybe even more consistent, thanks to Paul O'Neill's increasingly impressive compositions and an improved musicality. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

The original Broadway production of MY FAIR LADY, as heard on this 1956 recording, not only made stars of Rex Harrison (already an established actor) and Julie Andrews, it introduced a host of unforgettable tunes into the Great American Songbook. "On the Street Where You Live," "I Could Have Danced All Night," "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face," each has been sung so many times by so many performers that it's easy to forget who laid down the definitive versions. Throughout the show, Harrison's charisma-laded sprechtstimme and Andrews's bell-like tones provide the perfect contrast for each other, not to mention the perfect vehicle for this rich set of songs.

Homebrew
$14.85 This is Durrant's first classical album for seven years, and a response to numerous requests from fans at concerts. Its released on the musician's own LongMan Records -a thriving indie, acoustic label that can be read as a musical map of Durrant's adventures over the past 15 years including albums by diverse acts such as the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, King of the Buskers Don Partridge and a collection of talented singer songwriters. Now it's time for Durrant himself to take centre stage - and not before time according to many. The content of the album is drawn from the most popular classical guitar pieces Durrant has played over the last few years. This includes the iconic works Asturias (Albeniz), Recuerdos de la Alhambra & Capricho Arabe (Tarrega) and Stanley Myers' Cavatina. They've all been recorded before many times, but not on such an instrument and not in surround sound. The recording is produced by the guitarist and legendary teacher Charles Ramirez (Durrant's mentor from his days at the Royal College of Music).Durrant is in his forties now and his playing has just returned to its classical roots. He is also playing more solo concerts than at any other time in his life. He says: 'I feel a renewed hunger to dig as much beauty and expression ...
