$11.09 100 ANOS DE MARIACHI won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Mexican-American Performance.
This masterful tenor hardly needs any introduction, with a vast discography that embraces the opera and pop worlds alike. 100 ANOS DE MARIACHI is Domingo's passionate homage to this wonderful Mexican musical tradition which, decade after decade, continues to grace innumerable celebrations. It's a lovely collection of favorites, each of which is arranged tastefully with lush, moving strings and brass that form the perfect background for Domingo's crooning.
Made classic by singers like Jorge Negrete, the spirited, up-tempo "Ay, Jalisco No Te Rajes!" should surely set couples young and old dancing, as should "Yo Soy Mexicano." Elsewhere, soft, lilting guitars conjure up bright images of old Mexico in + time as Domingo makes an operatic fanfare of the mesmerizing "La Malaguena." All around, these are classic Mariachi themes sung with all the power and subtlety that this man has to offer.
Recorded at Capitol Studios & Cello Studios, Hollywood, California; Sonoland Studios, Madrid, Spain, Right Track Recording, New York, New York; O'Henry Studios, Burbank, California. Includes liner notes by Sergio Fernandez Bravo & Placido Domingo.

$14.49 Hans Zimmer (RAIN MAN, GLADIATOR, THE DARK KNIGHT) is a composer who always prepares well for sequels. Not only do his sequel scores sound distinctly different from the original film, but they are also more expansive, adventurous, and potent than their predecessors. The six-time Academy Award nominee (and winner for 1994's THE LION KING) returns to author Dan Brown's world of religious espionage with the follow-up to 2006's THE DA VINCI CODE. ANGELS & DEMONS is a heart-pounding thriller right from the start. Where THE DA VINCI CODE was spacious, neo-romantic, and ethereal, ANGELS & DEMONS is dense, foreboding, and uncannily elegant. Accompanying Zimmer is Grammy-winning violist Joshua Bell (DEFIANCE, THE RED VIOLIN).
Composer: Hans Zimmer.

Paul Lansky: Homebrew
$14.85 This is Durrant’s first classical album for seven years, and a response to numerous requests from fans at concerts. Its released on the musician’s own LongMan Records —a thriving indie, acoustic label that can be read as a musical map of Durrant’s adventures over the past 15 years including albums by diverse acts such as the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, King of the Buskers Don Partridge and a collection of talented singer songwriters. Now it’s time for Durrant himself to take centre stage — and not before time according to many. The content of the album is drawn from the most popular classical guitar pieces Durrant has played over the last few years. This includes the iconic works Asturias (Albeniz), Recuerdos de la Alhambra & Capricho Arabe (Tarrega) and Stanley Myers’ Cavatina. They’ve all been recorded before many times, but not on such an instrument and not in surround sound. The recording is produced by the guitarist and legendary teacher Charles Ramirez (Durrant’s mentor from his days at the Royal College of Music).Durrant is in his forties now and his playing has just returned to its classical roots. He is also playing more solo concerts than at any other time in his life. He says: “I feel a renewed hunger to dig as much beauty and expression from this wooden box as I possibly can and to let my audiences glimpse the passion in the music I’ve chosen ...
