The music of Korn speaks to those on the fringes of society. The band's trademark hip-core has evolved into a more clearly defined but equally urgent musical vision. Korn's sense of musical urgency and its ambition to make its mark on music ... Full Descriptionis furthered with ISSUES.
"Beg for Me" is a track likely to incite the swirling pits at the band's legendary live shows. Showing that the group hasn't lost its down-to-earth sensibility, Korn invited fans to compete for the cover art of ISSUES, releasing versions featuring the winning piece as well as the efforts of three finalists. The emotional journey undergone by vocalist Johnathan Davis on tracks like "Hey Daddy" is truly strengthened by his movement away from his more abrasive vocal style and toward a more dominantly melodic approach. Davis digs more deeply into his tortured emotions on efforts such as "No Way," where he sings: "lately things aren't going my way / lately everything is gray / it feels like something / it feels like nothing." That hazy emotional landscape is what strikes a responsive chord with Korn fans and makes ISSUES a landmark album.

Rolling Stone (1/20/00, p.56) - 3 stars out of 5 - "...the band moves from catharsis to careerism. They work hard to add melodies, mostly big, grunge-redux choruses, as if they want to be Soundgarden or, piling on static and distortion, Nine Inch Nails..." Q (1/00, p.116) - 4 stars out of 5 - "...impressively obsessive: every track has the same huge dynamic range, the same mood, the same message....[It] is dark, intelligent and very ugly..." CMJ (12/13/99, p.4) - "...ready to blast all non-believers to Kingdom Come....[striking] a rebellious, gut-wrenching, and emotionally naked stance....Head and Monkey's down-tuned riffage remains inimitable..." Korns Best This is in my opinion Korns best album. It's also (along with life is peachy) one of there darkest. This cd gives you almost a cold/dark feeling when you listen to it, but it helps pull you through bad situation(at least it has for me). This sadly is the last cd from korn thats worth buying, so dont expect much from there music after this. Submitted by nononono (noneya, canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
cure for the naive Issues helped me get through life when i almost gave up hope, i don't care how a review should sound, but KoRn are a voice for the rigid, cold reality we consume everyday day. Submitted by powertooless (Brasov,Romania) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Korn CD (1994)
Issues CD music
$7.59 "Shoots And Ladders" was nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
"Are you readyyyy?!" With that question--an inquiry that begins as a growl and ends as a scream--Jonathan Davis provides a fitting beginning to this searing collection of relentless, metallicized thrash/funk. His question is well-posed; this is not music for the faint of heart. Producer Ross Robinson and Korn have found a formula that works: start with a layer of fuzz-soaked guitar, add some big beats, and finish the whole construct off with a healthy dose of Davis's tortured vocals.
This is dark music, scary music. It's also occasionally funky music. "Ball Tongue," with its stop/start syncopation, tinny guitar whine, and stripped-down-to-the-bone verse, is a perfect encapsulation of the Korn style. The track also contains a trace of (gasp!) Hip-Hop flavor, but you won't be hearing this L.A. quartet on the dance floor any time soon. Their assault is severe, fueled with explosive bursts of guitar a la Metallica, as well as frenetic tempo changes reminiscent of Faith No More. The themes are frustration, alienation, pain, explored the way a bulldozer might peruse a patch of daisies.
Through songs like "Divine," where guitar and drums intertwine to form a sinewy, intricate rhythmic ...
| | Korn Life Is Peachy CD (1996)
Issues music CDs
$7.59 LIFE IS PEACHY contains a CD-Extra video segment of Korn's performance at the Astoria Theater, London, England.
"No Place To Hide" was nominated for a 1998 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
Full of shrilly, distorted guitar squeals, bass-heavy darkness and laryngitis-inducing growls, Korn's sophomore turn, the oh-so sarcastically titled LIFE IS PEACHY, is a musical tour through some truly evil corners. The Bakersfield quintet's paranoia-induced rampage makes countless by-the-numbers death-metal acts seem cartoonish by comparison.
Mostly, Korn succeeds in inspiring rage and terror by not overplaying its hand, and by mixing in hip-hop beats, punk abandon and funky humor with its thrash. Jonathan Davis croons as ably as he roars, making his "Exorcist" impression seem genuine when he does break into it. James "Munky" Shaffer's ...
| | Korn Follow The Leader CD (1998)
Issues songs
$9.29 Tracks 1 through 12 are silent and are each five-seconds long. The album's track listing begins with number 13, "It's On!"
Like Fear Factory and a host of others, Korn combines streamlined metal with ominous industrial touches and an undercurrent of hip-hop rhythm. FOLLOW THE LEADER is an urban nightmare, as unrelentingly dark as Onyx, Tool or Nine Inch Nails, and stylistically indebted to all three. The twin guitars of Munky and Head provide the requisite rock quotient, ...
| | Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication CD (1999)
Issues album
$15.65 "Scar Tissue" won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. CALIFORNICATION was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. "Scar Tissue" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.
"Californication" was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and for Best Rock Song.
CALIFORNICATION finds The Red Hot Chili Peppers once again in the more straightforward punk-funk mode of BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK. This return to their original sound also marks the return of prodigal son John Frusciante, who takes over for his replacement, Dave Navarro. The Chili Peppers fill CALIFORNICATION with material shaped by personal and professional turmoil, resulting in a somewhat more sensitive approach than one might expected from a band whose hard-core following are skate-punks and drunken frat-boys. Songs such as "Otherside," "Scar Tissue" and "This Velvet Glove" overflow with background harmonies, while Frusciante's unadorned guitar provides support for Anthony Kiedis' emotive singing and broken-hearted lyrics.
The title track is one of the most impressive songs ...

$12.85 This story was very early a dream and a goal for 5 guys in the very south of Sweden. Some of them struggled in bands without any future. Some played with upcoming stars like Jonas Hansson and the Johansson Brothers. Some played in warm-up bands for Bruce Dickinson and Helloween amongst others. What these five guys didn´t know, was that the dream would become a realization for them in the year 2000. That year they had all finally joined Mister Kite and they went into a studio to record their first album. During the recordings Mister Kite hooked up with the people that would prove to be extremely important for the outcome of the album, like; Producer Christer Hermodsson, Coverartist Monowasp, and Lion Music's Lasse Mattsson. It all went extremely well and in the spring of 2002 the album All In Time was released through Lion Music. Throughout 2002 the reviews came from all over the world and the total amount of nice words, good grades, well-wishing and congratulations where overwhelming. The ultimate high of 2002 was an invitation to join Dio and his band on their Scandinavian tour, which of course was a truly great experience for the band. Spring 2003 came and once again Mister Kite joined forces with the previously mentioned people for the making of a second ...

| | Ciara Considine A Mo Chroa- CD (2008)
Issues songs
$21.55 There is an old Irish phrase used to refer to a loved-one: 'Ó cuisle geal mo chroÃ'. It means 'Oh bright pulse of my heart'. This phrase is the inspiration behind Ciara Considine's debut album. The songs emerge from the wealth and beauty of Irish culture and speak of love and loss, against the harsh back-drop of Ireland's historical famines, poverty and emigration. The songs were shared in the true folk tradition - around the kitchen table, by the hearth of the home, amid the jigs and reels - and passed down through the generations. Previously a classical concert-pianist, Ciara Considine ...
