Few vocal collections are worthy to be set beside this one. Extremely difficult arias are sung, one after the other, with gorgeous tone, dazzling agility (the trill is without rival since the days of Melba), elegance and refinement, plus plenty of power when required. Sutherland's voice is in pristine condition, and one listens in amazement. Surely one of the greatest recorded vocal recitals of all time. If you purchase only one vocal recording this year, let it be this one.
