(2 Customer Reviews)
Personnel includes: Raffi (vocals, acoustic guitar); Ken Whiteley (various instruments, background vocals); Dan Lanois (mandolin, drums); Garnet Rogers (fiddle, flute); Chris Whiteley (harmonica, trumpet). Recorded at MSR Studios, Hamilton, Ontario in September 1976. This is the one that started it all, still one of the most popular recordings for children. For ages four to ten. ~ Bob Hinkle One of Raffi's best selling recordings, SINGABLE SONGS FOR THE VERY YOUNG features 19 short, catchy tunes sung by one of world's best-known singers of children's songs. This recording, first released in the 1970's, has a timeless quality. It features some familiar tunes, "Baa Baa Black Sheep" and "My Dreydel," as well as some familiar melodies that have been given a new twist, such as the swinging "Old MacDonald Had a Band." SINGABLE SONGS FOR THE VERY YOUNG includes instructive songs such as "Brush Your Teeth" and "Going to the Zoo," as well as a number of pop compositions, like "Down By the Bay" and "Aikendrum," that parents can enjoy too. However, what sets SINGABLE SONGS FOR THE VERY YOUNG apart from many children's recordings is Raffi's voice. He possesses a laid-back, mellow croon, one with roots in the Canadian folk tradition of singers such as Gordon Lightfoot. Parents raised on Paul Simon, James Taylor, and other lighter fare will find themselves entertained right along with their children.

Singable Songs For The Very Young Music Raffi Singable Songs For The Very Young Songs Singable Songs For The Very Young Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) Great kids CD I bought this CD for a young girl (a bit over 1) that I babysit for and she started humming along to it the first day she heard it. Raffi is funny and creative, and really captures the attention of young children...I recommend it especially to parents going on long car trips! Singable Songs is Great! My girls, ages 6 & 2, absolutely LOVE this CD. It is great for long car rides and we even found ourselves joining in the fun. The songs really are easy to sing along, even for our 2yo. This is our first Raffi CD to buy, and I will definitely be looking for more.

Awesome!! My children listened to this music over and over and over when they were younger. The cassette tape actually wore out after many years of playing. I've searched for years to find a replacement & finally did this year. Except now this is for my grandchildren. My adult daughter wanted one for herself, as she has no children, but loved it so much as a child. Awesome music and well worth the money Submitted by ditchdctr (Walstonburg, NC) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

While Raffi lists Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell as his biggest influences, recent years have seen him go global. On MORE SINGABLE SONGS he incorporates folk, reggae, ragtime, gospel, jazz, country and even calypso into his oeuvre. And while his musical influences--and ...

$12.59 Personnel: Willie Nelson (vocals, guitar); Toots Hibbert (vocals); Dan Bosworth, Randy Jacobs, Richard Feldman, Wayne Jobson (guitar); Robby Turner (steel guitar, dobro); Mickey Raphael (harmonica); Stephen Stewart, Norris Webb, Mikey Hyde (keyboards); Paul "Pablo" Stennett (bass guitar); Santa Davis (drums); Uziah "Sticky" Thompson (percussion); Pam Hall, Sir Harry Bowens, Sweet Pea Atkinson, Donald Ray Mitchell, Lieba Thomas (background vocals). Countryman was first brainstormed by Don Was and Chris Blackwell way back in 1995 and was originally intended for release on Blackwell's Island Records. Work began in 1996 with Don Was producing, but the project almost immediately fell victim to label monkey business, and sat on Nelson's back burner for nearly a decade, until Lost Highway hired producer Richard Feldman to come in and finish it. Nelson does a credible job on the two Jimmy Cliff tunes on Countryman, turning in strong, eerie, and atmospheric versions of "Sitting in Limbo" and "The Harder They Come," and he shines on his own 1960s song "Darkness on the Face of the Earth," which features a cute (sorry, no other word will do) little dub tail. ~ Steve Leggett Countryman was first brainstormed by Don Was and Chris Blackwell way back in 1995 and was originally intended for ...
