Q-Tip's 1999 solo debut, AMPLIFIED, was perhaps too party-oriented, too pop-influenced, too strayed from straightforward hip-hop, to have pleased die-hard A Tribe Called Quest fans. After nine years of the genre's evolution, which saw a handful of experimenters (i.e., Andre 3000, Kanye West, Pharrel Williams) running with Tip's instincts to great mainstream success, the positivistic, soft soul-based hip-hop sound purveyed by the nasal-voiced Tribe frontman now seems a whole lot closer to rap conventions.
Tip's second official solo release, THE RENAISSANCE, has been a long time coming and is a welcome breath of fresh air. The man once known as the Abstract Poetic lets his complex lyrical intuitions run wild as he spits some of his most intricate free-associated verses since his Tribe days. Bela Fleck's progressive fusion of jazz, bluegrass, classical, rock, and anything else he can get his hands on has been surprising listeners for some time now. 2006's THE HIDDEN LAND offers more of the same, though "sameness" for Fleck is liberated from its usual meaning. For example, the elaborate riff on Bach's "Fugue from Prelude & Fugue No. 20" that opens the disc is a stylistic whiplash that manages to incorporate bop, swing, funk, and psychedelia while still honoring the spirit of the original.

whether you like any electronic music or not, you will love this album. High energy and paced, it is a gem that most people have yet to uncover! which is a shame ben watkins has made some of the best music for the past 10-15 years, combining trance with eastern flavours and myriad of strange sounds, from aggressive bass lines to lush pads that soar. A testament to this is the last track, which is truely epic, like a music army off to war. All my friends love this cd, everytime we go out or there is a party it goes on, everyone has a copy and thats a group of people ranging from 16-22 all with varying musical tastes, its about the only thing we can agree on most the time lol its hard to describe wehat makes this album great. If you like some of the music of the matrix or animatirx then buy it, cus a few of juno's trcks featured on them, an then buy it cus it will be the best new thing you have ever heard!

Absolutely Stunning! Juno Reactor surpasses even their own superb Beyond The Infinite with this, the best electronic album in years. Blending Techno, D&B, Eastern rhythms and myriad sounds, Bible of Dreams is that rare album that transcends all musical forms and immediately appeals to all who are fortunate enough to have a listen. My C&W brother and alternative sister both got dressed and drove right down to the CD shop! Buy this record! Flying Object
