G'D Up album
$10.59 VOL. 3... LIFE & TIMES OF S. CARTER nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and "Big Pimpin' was nominated for Best Rap Performance By A Duo or Group.
On his fourth solo release, VOL. 3...LIFE AND TIMES OF S. CARTER, Jay-Z keeps his lyrics laced up with as many jewels as his wrists. Though he's one of hip-hop's most street-connected rappers, Jay manages his commercial success well, a trait that this album makes clear. The Rockwilder-produced "Do It Again," which features labelmate Beanie Siegel, seems destined to find a place in club mixes with its energetic beat and catchy phrases. Jay Hova joins forces with down-south kings U.G.K. for "Big Pimpin'," a Timbaland-produced gem. Other guest artists include Missy Elliott and Cash Money's Juvenile. With VOL. 3...LIFE AND TIMES ...

G'D Up CD music
$10.85 VOL. 2 HARD KNOCK LIFE won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
"Hard Knock Life" was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. "Money Ain't A Thang" was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.
Jay-Z is a rapper's rapper. He is the lyricist all other MCs want to be, and he has the beats over which every other MC wants to rhyme. His third album, VOL. 2 HARD KNOCK LIFE, further verifies Jay-Z's #1 status. Throughout his musical career, Jay-Z has shown that he has the skills to pay more than just the bills. Experimenting like few other rap artists have, Jay-Z uses the Broadway musical Annie's "Hard Knock Life" for his title track and first single. With its hardcore production, "Money, Cash, Hoes" allows Jay-Z to demonstrate his lyrical skill alongside DMX. "Paper Chase" features Foxy Brown and diversifies VOL. 2 with its Southern Timbaland-produced feel.

| | Cam'Ron Confessions Of Fire CD (1998)
G'D Up music CDs
$7.75 In 1998, the likes of Mase and Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz officially put uptown (technically the Bronx and Harlem, NYC) back on the map. Introducing Cam'Ron, the first MC on Untertainment Records, one of the newest heavyweight hip-hop labels. With his debut album, CONFESSIONS OF FIRE, Cam'ron shows off his versatile skills, mastering a commercial yet street sound.
Songs like "357" and "Horse & Carriage" (which features Cam's close friend Mase) are definite club and radio bangers. Other joints, such as the lesson-teaching "D Rugs" and the touching "Prophecy," play with your mind, forcing listeners to think. With the secret lovers-themed "Wrong Ones," Cam'ron reveals his storytelling persona. And, of course, Cam'ron rounds out the ...
| | Lox Money, Power & Respect CD (1998)
G'D Up songs
$14.99 Additional personnel includes: DJ Iroc (scratches); Dent (programming); DMX, Lil' Kim, Carl Thomas, Kelly Price, Puff Daddy.
No, they're not something you put on a bagel. The Lox are the first rap group released on Bad Boy Entertainment. With MONEY, POWER & RESPECT, Bad Boy continues its hit streak, relying on true street ethics and flawless, rugged production. Defying the standard for most hip hop groups, the three MCs out of Yonkers, New York boast similar vocal styles, but still manage to complement each other through lyrical content.
Although the Lox are touted as underground hip-hop, they have already shown their cross-over appeal on the Puff Daddy classic "It's All About The Benjamins." The Lox, which stands for Living On eXperience, deliver both their trademark hardcore style, on songs such as "Money, Power & Respect" and "Goin' Be Some Sh*t," and Puffy-influenced dance tracks, i.e. "So Right."
Parental Advisory
Recorded at Daddy's House Recording Studios, Sony Music Studios, Chung King Studios, The Hit Factory and Sound-On-Sound Recordings, Inc., New York, New York.
Engineers include: Stephen Dent, Michael Patterson, Doug Wilson.
The Lox: Jay, Styles, Sheek.

| | Snoop Dogg Tha Last Meal CD (2000)
G'D Up album
$11.69 Though Ice-T is credited with creating gangsta rap, and the original N.W.A. brought it to the forefront of the pop culture, it was Snoop Dogg that took the genre to the next level with his debut album DOGGYSTYLE. Snoop's decision to transfer from the Suge Knight-owned Death Row Records to the Master P-owned No Limit had a significant effect on the sound of his music.
However, his fifth album, THA LAST MEAL, returns Snoop to the funk-inspired sound that made his debut a classic. "Snoop Dogg (What's My Name Part. 2)," with its Timbaland-produced background, re-establishes Snoop as the G-funk king. The posse cut "Set it Off," which features Ice Cube, MC Ren, Nate Dogg, and the Lady of Rage, highlights Snoop's laid-back flow and skilled lyrical style. Check out "True Lies" for that bouncy old Snoop Dogg/Dr. Dre feel.
Personnel: Snoop Dogg (vocals); Jimmy Roach (guitar, bass guitar); LaTonya Holmes, Nate Dogg, The Lady of Rage, Traci Nelson (background vocals).
Audio Mixers: Dave Aron; Dr. Dre; Jimmy Douglass; Timbaland.

| | Lime Unexpected Lovers (1985) (Import) Canada
G'D Up music CDs
$13.15 Critics of Euro-dance music tend to dismiss its artists as faceless, but Denis and Denyse LePage -- collectively the Canadian Hi-NRG duo Lime -- are hardly faceless and certainly deserve credit for being recognizable. While Denis LePage brings a gruff, rock-like vocal style to Lime's Euro-dance grooves, Denyse LePage tends to sing in a high voice and sounds more R&B-influenced. Put them together and you have an appealing combination. Lime never became pop/Top 40 superstars in the U.S., but in dance clubs that played a lot of Hi-NRG, the male/female duo commanded much respect in the 1980s. One of the Lime LPs that club DJs were quick to notice was Unexpected ...
