| | M O D Loved By Thousands...Hated By Millions...Greatest Hits Volume One CD M O D Discography of CDs
Loved by Thousands, Hated by Millions might have represented the M.O.D. self-concept at the time of this 1995 compilation, but the description probably isn't exactly accurate. Most within the metal community had simply forgotten about this band (or more importantly, the superior project, S.O.D., that the group was born out of). In any event, after five Megaforce efforts stuffed with Billy Milano's failed attempt at humor and myopic, nationalist, and even jingoistic rants disguised as jokes, it was time for a best-of collection despite the absence of any hits. Anthems like "Spandex Enormity" and "Clubbin' Seals" probably had them rolling in the New York-area mosh pits, as live support must have been the leading criteria for inclusion in this 29-song opus. There are a couple of nice moments on Loved by Thousands, Hated by Millions -- especially from those culled from M.O.D.'s debut. But this record can be no stronger than the band's catalog, which barely qualifies as secondary within the punk metal pantheon. ~ Vincent Jeffries

$10.49 Fourteen years later, S.O.D. finally returns with its second studio album, and they're still as subtle as a sledgehammer both musically and lyrically, which is good news for Speak English or Die devotees. Loved By Thousands...Hated By Millions...Greatest Hits Volume One music CDs
$6.09 "Suicide Note Pt. I" was nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance.
Pantera's fourth major-label album is as dementedly metallic as anything the band has done. Over the years, this band has built a massive following with its adroit combination of guitar virtuosity that rivals Metallica's and an attitude as dark as Nine Inch Nails'. Philip Anselmo's vocals for THE GREAT SOUTHERN TRENDKILL were recorded at Trent Reznor's Nothing Studios, and they are positively demonic. They perfectly complement Dimebag Darrell's thunderous and dexterous guitar work. Vinnie Paul's ferocious, double-kick drumming is the final garnish on Pantera's infernal sound. Pantera may be the definitive modern metal band.
Thankfully, Pantera has stopped attempting to outdo each successive album in terms of start-to-finish intensity, but that doesn't mean they don't try in spots. The Great Southern Trendkill is burdened with passages ...
| | Caravan All Over You...Too CD (2000)
Loved By Thousands...Hated By Millions...Greatest Hits Volume One songs
$10.59 This is the second volume that the '90s reformation of Caravan has issued containing overhauled renditions of their most beloved material. As with the incipient volume All Over You, enthusiasts and purists alike will inevitably have differing opinions on their favorite music being presented in a sonically modern context. Fortunately, these tracks are rendered more often successfully than not. In contrast to the personnel on All Over You, this release features the '90s touring ensemble, adding noted sidemen Doug Boyle on lead guitar and bassist/vocalist Jim Leverton. Boyle's credentials include a high profile stint with Robert Plant's mid- to late-'80s solo band. Leverton has performed in seminal incarnations of Juicy Lucy, Fat Mattress, and Savoy Brown. ...
