Featuring 13 classic ABBA hits recorded at London's Wembley Arena in 1979 and two more ("Fernando," "Money Money Money") from the 1977 Australian tour documented in ABBA: The Movie, ABBA LIVE was released in 1986, five years after the Swedish ... Full Descriptionsupergroup's breakup. Given the time frame, the track listing is top-heavy with mid-period (1976-'79) classics, with only 1974's "Waterloo" dating from the group's early bubblegum years.
The most obscure songs included here are the relatively small hits "On and On and On" and "Two for the Price of One" and Bjorn's vocal spotlight "Does Your Mother Know?" Arrangements and vocals stay close to the studio versions but avoid the pitfall of exact replication. The crowds are wildly enthusiastic but not intrusive. The nicely designed package includes many excellent late-'70s photos of the group.
24 bit digitally remastered reissue of their 1986 live albumwith three bonus tracks: 'Money Money Money', 'Name Of The Game/ Eagle' and 'On And On And On'. 14 tracks total, also featuring hits like 'Waterloo', 'Dancing Queen', 'Take A Chance On Me', 'Fernando' and 'Does Your Mother Know'. All tracks are from 1977, 1979 & 1981. 1997 Polydor release.
Recorded live on tour of Australia in 1977; Wembley Arena, Wembley, England in 1979; the DICK CAVETT MEETS ABBA TV show in 1981.

Like many European pop stars, ABBA often remade their hits in languages other than English for further penetration into foreign markets. (Remember the Beatles' "Sie Liebt Dich"?) Throughout their eight-year career, ABBA remade many of ...

Abba Live CD music
$6.85 Not quite the soundtrack to the Swedish foursome's film debut, ABBA: The Movie (directed by respected Swedish filmmaker Lasse Hallestrom), THE ALBUM combines several songs from the movie, including the deliriously bouncy hit "Take A Chance On Me" and the dramatic "The Name of the Game," with three songs from Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson's never-completed musical The Girl with the Golden Hair.
These three songs are among the band's most intriguing, with "Thank You for the Music" serving as the band's unofficial theme song and "I Wonder (Departure)" one of their most affecting ballads. It's the near-violent, bitterly ironic ...

Abba Live music CDs
$6.85 Principally recorded at Polar Music Studios, Stokholm, Sweden in 1980. Includes reissue liner notes by Carl Magnus Palm.
SUPER TROUPER is ABBA's seventh--and next to last--studio album, and one of their most artistically satisfying. The album's chart-topping singles include the propulsive title track, "Lay All Your Love On Me" and the bittersweet anthem "The Winner Takes It All," which many rank with "Dancing Queen" and "S.O.S." as one of the Swedish foursome's masterpieces. The rest of the album continues the more reflective, adult themes explored by its predecessors, VOULEZ-VOUZ and THE ALBUM. It's difficult to separate the ...

Abba Live songs
$7.55 Folks familiar with ABBA's singles from their five-year stranglehold on AM radio in the late-'70s may be surprised by this, the Swedish foursome's 1973 debut. Not only is the title track--a runner-up in the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest--the only tune that ever shows up on the group's many anthologies, the other 11 songs show only traces of the compositional maturity, lyrical depth and production flourishes that make ABBA's later work so intoxicating.
Instead, RING RING is a sterling example of early-'70s bubblegum, not really that different from the Partridge Family or Andy Kim. Most surprising may be how many of the songs feature the lead vocals of Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson ...

Abba Live album
$11.59 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' ...

Abba Live music CDs
$15.75 Like VOL. 1, BLUES JAM IN CHICAGO VOL. 2 documents collaborations between some of Chess Records' most prominent bluesmen and the late-1960s version of Fleetwood Mac (the blues-rock power outfit, as opposed to the commercially successful soft-rock incarnation from the '70s). Given that the Peter Green-led Fleetwood Mac was already deeply rooted in Chicago blues, the project proved to be a natural for the group, with Green's blues-drenched leads and the chops of Mick Fleetwood (drums), John McVie (bass), Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer (guitars) providing a perfect framework for contributions by Willie Dixon, Otis Spann, and David "Honeyboy" Edwards, among others.
Green and company bring an edge to the proceedings, playing with the kind of muscle and unbridled energy associated with rock music. Interestingly, VOL. 2 has greater variety in the lineup than VOL. 1, with Dixon substituting on bass for McVie on a number of tracks, along with much swapping of vocal duties. This last fact gives the second installment the edge over the first, with Edwards ...
