Technically demanding, high-velocity progressive metal with abrupt, stop-start time changes and an elegantly Gothic, neo-classical tinge to some guitar lines -- this is the stuff of Manifesto for Futurism, the debut album from Dali's Dilemma. Fates Warning, Queensryche, Dream Theater, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Metallica are all obvious reference points, but then, so are classic rockers like Deep Purple, Rainbow, and Rush. ~ Steve Huey
Recording information: Prairie Sun Studios, Cotati, CA; Sound Temple Studio.
Dali's Dilemma: Matt Bradley (vocals); Patrick Reyes (guitar); Matt Guillory (keyboards); Steve Reyes (bass); Jeremy Colson (drums).

Manifesto For Futurism Music Dali's Dilemma Manifesto For Futurism Songs Manifesto For Futurism Music Review Average Rating: (4.3 out of 5 stars) simply ok Man...these guys have some work to do. The perks of this album, well, they have a great keyboardist and drummer. Track #5 "Ashen Days" is the peak i think. Downside, first off the mix. It's just kinda there, real flat sounding. I'm sure something coulda been done to make the drums sound more lively and have everything else come out a bit more. The singer...god is he annoying. I'm sorry, i love Dream Theater and bands with great singers, but this guy just doesn't have it. Plus the songwriting is simply alright, but nothing more. They have their "we want to be Dream Theater" points which are also ok, but again nothing above that. They just can't pull it off. Overall an alright cd, but coulda been better. Great Stuff These guys are amazing musicians... I love their sound... Yea i guess some of their stuff is totally a rip off of Dream Theater, but i dont care, because i love Dream Theater also... But the track 'Miracles in Yesteryears' is probably my favorite... Submitted by matt (hudson, ohio) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
A truly excellent disc! These guys are an amazing band! Unfortunately, I think they may have broken up. Anyway, the musicianship on the release is excellent. Patrick Reyes plays some amazing guitar. Keyboardist Matt Guillory has played on many projects for magna carta. He has a unique sound and style. The singer has a very unique sound as well. The music is slightly similar to Dream Theater, yet their sound and approach is uniquely cool in it's own right. Some truly excellent tunes include " Miracle in Yesteryear Submitted by FFPutz (Salt Lake City) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Manifesto For Futurism music CDs
$8.59 There's a breed of (post-1980s) bands with the same degree of grand rock experimentalism as Pink Floyd and Yes, who simultaneously adhere to the concept of concise songwriting. Porcupine Tree is one such band--their sound is a balance of lush ambient textures, charming vocal harmonies, rock & roll directness, and acoustically- and electronically-generated sounds. Their debut IN ABSENTIA shows all these elements in place, rich with the likely possibility of them becoming ...

Manifesto For Futurism songs
$11.35 "Metropolis Part I," a track featured on Dream Theater's breakthrough, IMAGES AND WORDS, left many progressive rock enthusiasts with what seemed like another unfinished chapter in a story never to be completed. Seven years and five albums later, Dream Theater returned to its majestic beginnings with METROPOLIS PART II--SCENES FROM A MEMORY. Keyboard virtuoso Jordan Rudess, who was a logical ...

Manifesto For Futurism CD music
$13.85 This is another of the supergroup combinations from the Magna Carta label and is the brainchild of Trent Gardner of Magellan. It features Terry Bozzio (Frank Zappa) on drums, Billy Sheehan (Talas) on bass, and the soloing of John Petrucci (Dream Theater). There are also several other guest musicians, such as Steve Howe (Yes) and James LaBrie (Dream Theater). It is one of the more intelligent and diverse progressive albums to emerge during the '90s. Unlike its predecessors, Black Light Syndrome and Liquid Tension Experiment, this is more of a progressive rock (as opposed to metal) recording in the tradition of Jethro Tull and Genesis. Bozzio's drumming adds a unique quality to the band, as do the diverse vocal stylings of each singer. It isn't often that you get to hear a single body of work that features consistent music with different vocalists ...
| | Slayer Undisputed Attitude CD (1996)
Manifesto For Futurism music CDs
$11.65 UNDISPUTED ATTITUDE is a collection of covers of punk-rock songs.
Slayer's Undisputed Attitude feels more like a stopgap than an actual Slayer record. Rather than another set of blasting, disturbing originals like 1994's Divine Intervention or 1995's Serenity in Murder EP, this album is a collection of covers. Containing 14 tracks, the band covers everyone from Minor Threat to T.S.O.L., from D.I. to Iggy Pop. Given Slayer's Huntington Beach, CA, homeland, the hardcore roots are plain enough. But HB is also a big metal town, and these cats as youngsters were exposed to everything from Motörhead to Black Sabbath and the early L.A. metal scene. True to their course, however, they've never sounded like anyone but themselves. Even on a collection of covers (with a pair of originals thrown in to boot), the Slayer imprint is unmistakable, ...
