Using the monicker 'Incredible' was no flash banner, it was true. Smith defined the Hammond organ as a jazz instrument and milked and bled it to its limit. The sub-credit for guitarist Kenny Burrell and drummer Grady Tate is also well deserved. ... Full DescriptionThis is the ultimate groovy, smokey jazz trio record that Smith made. The title track has been used for countless radio trailers over the years, while the often covered Duke Ellington classic, 'Satin Doll', is given extra special effort. Burrell has worked with Smith more than any other musician. His mellow tone and Smith's treble notes blend like cucumber and salmon.
Recorded at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey on June 15 & 16, 1965. Originally released on Verve (8628).
Personnel: Jimmy Smith (organ); Kenny Burrell (guitar); Grady Tate (drums).

$9.65 Forget the stylized in-session cover art closeup of the "jazz man at work:" eyes clenched shut, lips pursed around a mouthpiece, dim lighting. On the cover of his Blue Note debut Gordon appears perched in a Central Park carriage in a sharp-looking trench coat, one hand on his horn case, the other waving a cigarette, a big grin on his face. Doin' allright, indeed. And compared to some of his labelmates, Gordon was perhaps something of an already-arrived success, having been on the scene for over twenty years by the time of this 1961 recording.
The confidence one would expect therefore, and the sunny disposition implied by the cover, are equally ...

Organ Grinder Swing album
$9.79 This Verve reissue captures Hammond organ master Jimmy Smith, guitarist George Benson, and drummer Donald Bailey performing live in 1968 for a fun-loving crowd at an intimate club in Atlanta, Georgia. As per usual with Smith, the fare is bluesy soul-jazz par excellence, with a warm feeling reminiscent of Sunday church meetings and backyard barbecues. But where many of Smith's albums pack a funky wallop suitable for dance-floor workouts, THE BOSS hangs back a bit, grooving smoothly along blues progressions that allow Benson and Smith to stretch ...

Organ Grinder Swing CD music
$7.59 "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" was nominated for a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.
Over the past decade, since first gaining popularity with the Jeff Lorber Fusion, soprano saxophonist Kenny G has become one of the most celebrated instrumental stars in all of popular music. By fusing elements of contemporary jazz with the most lyrical aspects of pop and R&B, Kenny G has created an enduring sound signature and a fan base that rivals that of any vocalist.
It is precisely these lyric, vocal gifts that make Kenny G's sound so instantly identifiable. And on MIRACLES: THE HOLIDAY ALBUM, the saxophonist has turned his attention towards some of the most enduring, engaging melodies in popular music. Inspired in part by the birth of his son, the album has a mellifluous melodic quality, a reassuring warmth, that transcends ...

Often compared to countrymen Coldplay and Radiohead, the UK-based trio Keane plays a similarly majestic, sweeping blend of pop-informed rock music. Fueling the comparisons is the fact that lead vocalist Tom Chaplin makes heavy use of the same kind of Jeff Buckley-esque falsetto and emotion-filled wails favored by Chris Martin and Thom Yorke. On HOPES AND FEARS's epic tracks ...

Organ Grinder Swing Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) JIMMY SMITH LIVES FOREVER!!!! WONDERFUL!!!! Submitted by najponk (Prague) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 3 of 3 found this helpful.
A Zillion star classic album! The nearly four decades with musical magic between Jimmy Smith, Kenny Burrell and Grady Tate was kicked-off in 1965 with this master trio album. The album name became synonimous of Jimmy's concert highlights throughout his career. "Oh, no, babe" is a drenched-down blues where both Jimmy and Kenny gives a power demonstration of their musical roots. The lovely ballad "I'll close my eyes" is 3 minute of pure mellowness. The later over-recorded "Satin Doll" by Duke Ellington rounds up this great album with nice organ registration changes that became Jimmy's trademark. My door to the World of Jazz Running the year 1968. I was a teenager 16 years old. I had listened something about the Hammond Monster in the radio.
I bougth this gem in Vinil in that date . It was my first record of Jazz.
This music made so deep impression on me that now i own collection of 200 Vinil Records and 600 cds of jazz music.
My door to the world of Jazz. I preserve the original Vinil with fervorous care. Please listen the track "Oh no, babe" the most emotional blues ever recorded with organ.
! Jimmy Outstandig !
