From deep in the vaults of Apollo Records comes this sensational collection of 1949 artifacts by the veteran pianist, along with sides by singer St. Louis Jimmy, young pianist Willie Mabon, and two unissued sides by guitarist Jimmy Rogers (including a pre-Chess rendition of his seminal "That's All Right"). 3 stars Blues piano legend
A good example of Sunnyland Slim's repetoire and what was played in the House Rent Party venues. It is a compilation of mellow haunting blues tracks which convey the atmosphere and pleasure that blues in the raw can pass on to the lovers of the genre.
