THE WOMAN IN ME won a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Country Album. "Any Man Of Mine" was nominated for Grammys for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song. Shania Twain was nominated for the Grammy for Best New Artist. The ... Full Descriptionlow, sultry voice of Canadian Shania Twain serves her well on THE WOMAN IN ME. This is a compact collection of middle-of-the-road country, warped by the rock influence of Twain's producer/husband, Mutt Lange.
Twain is not just a singer; she also co-wrote most of the songs with Lange, and they run the gamut from soft ballad to reeling rock. The opening track is a slow, slurry ballad that would be just as comfortable on the adult contemporary charts as on the country charts, and is reminiscent of Bette Midler's style of balladeering.
The single "Who's Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?" is a bouncy shuffle that could bring Twain to the forefront of country music. Her vocal is pure country, straight from yesteryear, a matured Brenda Lee. But with thick, rock-oriented production, there isn't much, besides Twain's twang, that labels this album "country."
Principally recorded at Sound Stage Studio, Nashville, Tennessee and A.R.P. Track Productions, St. Anne Des Lacs, Canada.

"Just To Hear You Say That You Love Me" was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals. "Let Me Let Go" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance.
Faith Hill's third album, simply titled FAITH, amounts to nothing less than an artistic reinvention. Hill, not a writer herself, has chosen a collection of well-crafted, weighty songs designed to show off her substantial vocal chops to fullest effect. Songs from top Nashville writers like Matraca Berg, Gretchen Peters and Beth Neilsen Chapman are included, but so is material from rockers Aldo Nova and Sheryl Crow. Such diversity adds up to a wide range of styles, all of which Hill handles effortlessly.
The overriding theme of FAITH is love--getting it, keeping it and losing it. The opening cut, "This Kiss," is outstanding--an ode to the power of the perfect ...
| | Shania Twain CD (1993)
Woman In Me CD music
$6.39 When Shania Twain's self-titled debut came out in 1993, it was impossible to predict the impact she would soon have, not only on country music but on the pop world as well. She hadn't yet hooked up with producer/hubby Mutt Lange, so there's less pop crossover material here than on her subsequent releases. Instead, mainstream country is the order of the day: romantic ballads colored by appropriately sorrowful-sounding steel guitar, and perky up-tempo numbers capable of inducing a line-dance at a moment's notice.
Twain's emergence as a bared-navel sex symbol was still in the future, so there's less of a focus on the randy, sensual material that would characterize albums like COME ON OVER. "God Ain't Gonna Getcha For That" ...

Woman In Me music CDs
$12.69 "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. "Come On Over" won the 2000 Grammy Award for Best Country Song. "You've Got A Way" was nominated for the 2000 Grammy Award for Song Of The Year.
"You're Still The One" won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Female Country Performance and Best Country Song, and was nominated for Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year. COME ON OVER was nominated for a 1999 Grammy for Album Of The Year and Best Country Album.
Following her smash hit THE WOMAN IN ME was no easy task for Shania Twain and husband/producer Mutt Lange. With COME ON OVER the sexy vixen of modern country has carved out a bigger niche for herself that is sure to please her growing throng of fans. With a huge helping of rock and roll added to her country trimmings, Twain proves her success has been no fluke. As a rule, she goes out of her way to break the traditional Nashville mold. Even her songwriting skills are at the forefront; Shania and Mutt co-wrote all the songs on this collection.
Sounding like a disciple of Linda Ronstadt and Tina Turner with a dash of Tanya Tucker, Twain launches into country-club rockers like "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!," "Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)," and "Rock This Country!" with a fervor. A ...

| | Shania Twain Up! CDs (2002) Country & Pop Versions
Woman In Me album
$12.65 UP! was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Country Album. "Forever And For Always" was nominated for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and for Best Country Song.
UP! marks Shania Twain's emergence from a five-year hiatus that found her absconding to Switzerland and having a child with husband/producer/collaborator Robert "Mutt" Lange. As ever, Twain continues to be the master of the pop crossover. This time around, she takes 19 songs presents two different versions of each, divided between a pair of discs. CD 1 (the "Red CD") features more rock-flavored versions as opposed to CD2 (the "Green CD"), which includes considerably more pedal steel guitar et al.
Regardless of the genre, Twain and Lange continue to make a formidable pop-writing team. The two manage to craft catchy cuts on topics ranging from mundane situations in a relationship like who's behind the wheel (the sassy "In My Car [I'll Be The Driver]") to weightier fare like rampant materialism ...
