| | Paul Oakenfold Perfecto Presents Another World CD Paul Oakenfold Discography of CDs
(9 Customer Reviews)
This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by Paul Oakenfold.
Featuring the seamless mixing skills that have given him international recognition in the dance music underground, Oakenfold has crafted yet another in his series highlighting some of the more progressive strains of house music. The progressive trance style that has become Oakenfold's stock in trade, fuses pastoral symphonic soundscapes with arpeggiated synth passages reminiscent of European electronic artists such as Vangelis and Tangerine Dream.
Indeed, much of the track selection on PERFECTO PRESENTS focuses less on house music's typically rigid four on the floor kick drum patterns, and more on building an ambient soundscape suitable as a soundtrack for sensory immersion. In a surprise turn from the genre, Oakenfold mixes in some rather unusual selections including Dead Can Dance, Vangelis , and even Led Zeppelin, reminding the listener that inspired and creative DJing can come from the most unlikely sources.

This CD is an emotional roller coaster. It takes you from happiness, to excitment, to sadness, and dispair, all within an hour or two. I've owned a CD where every track is worth hearing until this one. Submitted by thamesngr (Duarte, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Another Classic from Paul Oakenfold. This mix is almost identical to the Radio 1 essential mix broadcast in 2000 in the UK but he's brought it over to USA clubs. This is a move away from the sound of some of the recent compilations and back to the style of the earlier Goa mix. It's never quite the same as the original Goa mix and their predecessors, or the broadcast mix for that matter but I don't know anyone else who can do it like Oakenfold. Strongly Recommended Submitted by a reviewer (Ann Arbor, MI, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Perfecto Presents Another World
$8.49 With their sophomore album, 13 WAYS TO BLEED, hardcore rockers Cold are set for a major league breakthrough. | | Paul Van Dyk Out There And Back CDs (2000)
Perfecto Presents Another World
$12.25 Paul Van Dyk was born in Eisenhuttenstadt, in former East Germany, and came to Berlin in the late '90s, lured there by the burgeoning techno and house scenes. It's amazing to think that Van Dyk only began deejaying in 1991, and in a single decade, reached further than most DJs will in a lifetime, imprinting his sound and style upon the dance music world's trance scene which first erupted in 1999.
OUT THERE AND BACK gives an idea why dance music bible Mixmag named Van Dyk its man of the year in 1999, writing "In ...

| | VH1 Presents The Corrs Live In Dublin CD (2002)
Perfecto Presents Another World
$6.79 This audio document of The Corrs' Dublin homecoming concert has pretty much everything fans of Irish pop could wish for, including an appearance from Bono in his earthly incarnation, fresh from an audience with President George W. Bush. It's to the band's credit that the charismatic singer fails to steal the show, despite creditable efforts via an anthemized version of Ryan Adams' beautifully downtempo "When the Stars Go Blue," and a great, leering rendition of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's "Summer Wine."
Somewhat more mysteriously, Rolling Stone Ron Wood also turns up on what sounds dangerously close to a lounge version of Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing," but this minor faux pas is redeemed by the Irish folk medley "Joy of Life/Trout in the Bath" which arguably features more ...
| | Dredg Catch Without Arms CD (2005)
Perfecto Presents Another World
$8.49 Early on, critics often described Dredg as a metal group. However, the quartet has since matured into a hard-edged indie-rock ensemble that seeks diversity and refinement in its music. On CATCH WITHOUT ARMS, the band favors highly orchestrated parts, dense guitar ...
