Elephant Shoe album
$15.18 MONUMENTS & MELODIES is an elliptical allusion to the hits and highlights contained within this 2009 retrospective, a double-disc set that's separated into a CD of singles and a CD of rarities. The first disc does its job efficiently, running through all but two of Incubus' Billboard hits--the minor mainstream rock radio hits "Circles" and "Make a Move" are missing, but the non-charting single "Are You In?" is in its place--bookended by two strong new Brendan O'Brien productions, "Black Heart Inertia" and "Midnight Swim." The second disc is devoted primarily to B-sides ...

Elephant Shoe CD music
$9.64 For many rock historians, the 1980s officially ended when Nirvana and Pearl Jam were burning up the charts in 1991 and 1992 and major labels started signing alternative rock acts left and right. For some rockers, however, the 1980s never ended--and German guitarist/songwriter Axel Rudi Pell's unwavering commitment to pre-'90s-style metal and hard rock is evident throughout BEST OF AXEL RUDI PELL: ANNIVERSARY EDITION. This 79-minute CD spotlights previously released material from Pell's Johnny Gioeli era; Pell hired Gioeli as his vocalist in 1998, and Gioeli received such a favorable response that Pell was still using him 11 years later in 2009. Although Pell's own songs dominate BEST OF AXEL RUDI PELL, this collection also contains two covers from 2007's DIAMONDS UNLOCKED: Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" and U2's 2000 hit "Beautiful Day," both of which become more hard-rocking in Pell's hands. Although hardly the last word on Pell's solo output of the 1990s and 2000s, BEST OF AXEL RUDI PELL is enthusiastically recommended to casual listeners.
Pell's career began in 1980 with the band, Steeler, who sold over 30,000 copies of their commercially most successful release, Strike Back, and ...

$12.65 Of course, it is the group's chart hits that stand out here, and for good reason. The collection's title cut, and "Poison Arrow" (an early MTV video sensation) are near-perfect pop songs. Likewise, the lilting electro-ballad "Be Near Me," the Smokey Robinson homage "When Smokey Sings" (which appropriates the riff from "Tears of a Clown"), and the catchy bounce of "How to Be a Millionaire" push all the ...

The man on the sax and the girl with the flaming red hair play with feeling and passion to the crowd..... - Daily Bulletin / Inland Empire by Imani TateCraig and Mary Durst are 2AZZ1. Coincidentally, both were born and raised in small neighboring towns near Jackson, Michigan. Their paths crossed there as young musicians and it seemed destined that they would cross again. In 1980, Craig moved to Los Angeles to finish his education and pursue a musical career. It was also at that time, while attending college in Indiana, Mary had the opportunity to audition as a vocalist for a jazz fusion album based in LA. Her audition was in the true Hollywood style as she sang over the telephone from her college dorm room for recording executives on the West Coast. Three days later, she was in Los Angeles recording an album.Their paths did cross again in 1981. They met and were impressed with the way in which each had turned out as adults. After attending a concert in Hollywood together, they began dating. Their collaborative efforts began in 1984 when they were married. They added a drummer, a guitarist, a bass player and founded the group "OnKall." They performed in arenas for audiences numbering from the hundreds in to the thousands. In 1986, OnKall celebrated notable success with their album release, "TRUE LOVE."They went on to build a reputation as recording artists as well as focused entertainers and changed their name to 2AZZ1 (pronounced "two as one"). The group ranges from a tight 5 piece band up to a 9 piece which ...
